Asia and the Pacific
UN Women’s Regional Asia and the Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok supports and carries out work on (i) expanding women’s leadership and participation; (ii) enhancing women’s economic empowerment;and (iii) ending violence against women. In addition to the above, UN Women also actively participates and contributes to various UN inter agency processes and collaborates with UN organizations around specific programme areas.
Partnerships & Resource Mobilization, Advocacy and Communications Unit (PRMAC)
This position is based within Partnerships, Resource Mobilization, Communications and Advocacy (PRMAC) Unit for the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP). At the regional office, PRMAC is in charge of building partnerships with private sector entities as well as bilateral partners, non-profit organisations and the media. PRMAC also provides strategic advice and technical support to both the regional office and country offices in Advocacy and Communications in Asia and the Pacific. The Head of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization manages the PRMAC unit and will be the consultant’s supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
SCOPE OF WORK AND SPECIFIC TASKS
The consultant will work with UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), including the Regional Programme staff. The consultant will work closely with UN Women to perform the following tasks:
Conceptualize design and layout of high-quality innovative, creative and attention-grabbing materials (print and online), for web-based communications as infographics, Illustrations, reports, web and social media-based campaigns, advocacy initiatives, promotional and training materials, animations, and GIFS as assigned by Programme Managers;
Follow UN Women Branding Guidelines and Identity Standards;
Liaise with the printing/ production facilities and provide them with all relevant production-related information;
Conduct quality control to ensure accurate and high-quality work;
Modify, revise and edit materials as required, in consultation with Programme Managers, Production Specialist and Web Manager of UN Women Headquarter.
PRINCIPLE
Advocacy messages should be positive and empowering and reflect the diversity of the Asia-Pacific region in terms of ethnicity, age, gender, etc.; Materials designed in such a way that they can be updated and adjusted for future use (all colours, fonts (in TTF or OTF), inserted images, animations or links or any other used resource should be included in the design package; fonts should not be converted to outlines in order to follow further edits and adaptations in the future);
Ensuring the design of the materials is consistent with UN Women communications guidelines;
UN Women has non-exclusive world rights in perpetuity of all designed submissions and products.

Required Skills and Experience
THE QUALIFICATIONS EXPECTED ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Minimum educational requirement: secondary education; specific diplomas or technical studies in design or layout is considered as an advantage;
At least 2 years of experience in design, illustration, or layout work;
Experience in creative skills and advanced command over a range of graphic design software, can be programmes such as Adobe Suite/CC, Corel Draw etc;
Experience in printing and production matters and knowledge of different formats for printing, understanding of the digital space and designing for a digital and social media environment;
Proficiency in English
Previous working experience in Asia and the Pacific, knowledge of the UN System, and/or experience designing gender-equality advocacy materials an advantage;
