The Organisation

RedR Australia is an international humanitarian organisation which contributes to humanitarian responses in the Pacific, Asia and the Middle East and Africa. With offices in Melbourne, Suva (Fiji), and Amman (Jordan), RedR recruits, trains and deploys skilled professionals to work alongside communities to help plan, respond and recover from crisis and/or conflict. RedR Australia maintains a roster of more than 750 technical experts across a range of skill profiles including Information management, protection, humanitarian coordination, public and clinical health, logistics, WASH, and disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Suva-based Regional Manager, Pacific manages the overall Pacific operations and implements the Australia Assists program within the region (including Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Kiribati, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea). Core responsibilities include furthering the RedR Australia and Australia Assists Localisation, Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion strategies and actions plans via the core business areas of recruitment, training and deployment of humanitarian personnel.
Additional duties include:

• Innovative, adaptive and high quality program development and implementation
• Establishing and nurturing of key stakeholder relationships and effective representation
• Implementing the Australia Assists program and extending its influence
• Ensuring compliance and duty of care for deployees and staff

Skills Required

You will be a well-regarded humanitarian response operations leader with international and Pacific management experience, including the management of DFAT-funded programs. Exposure to the UN system will be highly regarded.

Additionally you offer:

• At least 5 year’s senior-level experience managing donor-funded programs
• Demonstrated ability to engage and lead with cultural sensitivity and diplomacy
• Effective management of relationships with international partners and foreign governments
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills across diverse Pacific region stakeholder groups
• Proven representation experience, including at ambassadorial levels
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; high level report writing skills
• Advanced strategic planning and program development capabilities
• Ability to lead calmly and effectively through complexity and crisis situations
• Willingness to travel extensively as required (COVID permitting)
• Excellent MS Office and information management systems abilities
• Private sector, donor funded program delivery would be highly regarded
• Adaptive programming experience would be a plus
• A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is required
