1. Background
The AECF (Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund) is a non-profit institution supporting early and growth stage businesses – through provision of patient capital – to innovate, create jobs, leverage investments and markets in an effort to create resilience and sustainable incomes for rural poor and marginalized communities in Africa. AECF’s strategy is focused on agribusiness/agriculture and renewable energy sectors with increased support to climate technologies, deepened focus on gender, youth, and employment, aimed at attaining the institution’s vision of ‘A Prosperous and Enterprising Rural Africa’. Since 2008, AECF has invested in 268 businesses across sub-Sahara Africa focusing on Agribusiness, Renewable Energy and Climate Technologies. As of 2018, we have impacted more than 17 million lives, created over 12,000 jobs and leveraged over US$ 750 million in matching funds from the private sector. AECF has implemented programs across Africa delivering tangible impact for communities most in need.
2. About the Assignment
The AECF would like to engage a consultant to design and facilitate a Relationship Management training exercise.
3. Objective
This training seeks to provide the portfolio team with the skills they need to ensure that investees and investors experience unparalleled quality services and experiences, remain engaged and maximize retention and investment.
The training is to be customized for the levels tiered below: –
4. Scope of work:
The consultant will be expected to:
a) Design and facilitate a Relationship Management Training for approximately 30 participants.
b) Through the Relationship Management Training, the participants will be expected to:
· Effectively manage investee and investor relationships
· Effectively analyze the investees and investor needs and deliver exceptional service.
· Be able to achieve high standard of investee/investor satisfaction and service quality.
· Manage program portfolios and build strong relationships to acquire new investors/investees.
· Exhibit strong communication & problem-solving skills.
· Adhere to requisite compliance & internal/external regulatory guidelines.
5. Expected outputs and Deliverables
The activities and expected outputs are as follows:
· Prepare and submit a course outline indicating proposed course content and the program for the two-day training.
· Facilitate a Relationship Management training in July 2021.
· Provide relevant training materials to the participants. The training materials can include PPT and participant handouts.
· Provide the HR Unit with a feedback analysis report from participants on the two‐day training.
· Facilitate a post-training exercise that will provide opportunities for participants to build their competencies and to apply their relationship management skills.

The awarded consultant will report to Director of Investments & Portfolio
7. Qualifications/experience required
· Minimum university degree in Business Management, Human Resources, or other relevant field.
· Extensive experience (at least 5 years) experience in conducting and facilitating trainings and workshops for organizations.
· Have proven work experience with private sector /DFI space.
· At least 5 – 8 years banking industry and relationship management experience.
· Experience in using a host of blended learning approaches.
· Multi-cultural and multi -country training experience.
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing training curriculum and training materials.
· Excellent inter-personal communication skills including experience of facilitation of virtual trainings/workshops and presentation.
8. Duration of service
The duration of service will be two-half days commencing on the last week of July 2021 .**
9. Evaluation Criteria
An evaluation committee will be formed by the AECF and shall include employees. All members will be bound by the same standards of confidentiality. The trainer/training provider should ensure that they fully respond to all criteria to be comprehensively evaluated.
The AECF may request and receive clarification from any consultant when evaluating a proposal. The evaluation committee may invite some or all of the consultants to appear before the committee to clarify their proposals. In such event, the evaluation committee may consider such clarifications in evaluating proposals.
In deciding the final selection of qualified bidder, the technical quality of the proposal will be given a weighting of 80% based on the evaluation criteria. Only the financial proposal of those bidders who qualify technically will be opened. The financial proposal will be allocated a weighting of 20% and the proposals will be ranked in terms of total points scored.

10. Proposal submission
Qualified consultants (individual or institutional consultants) are invited to submit the proposal (in English) that includes the following: **
· Profile of the consultant (max 1 page) explaining why they are the most suitable for the work.
· Relevant Experience (max 2 pages).
· Must demonstrate that you have conducted similar training in the past and clearly list the same.
· Offer the contacts of references for the Relationship Management assignments done before.
· A proposed course outline and content areas for the training.
· Recent CV.
· An understanding of the training requirements.
· Course outline including a summary of the content areas to be covered and daily program of activities.
· Detailed reference list indicating the scope and magnitude of similar assignments.
· Registration and other relevant statutory documents required.
· Financial proposal in USD clearly showing the budgeted cost for the work to be conducted (to be submitted in a separate document from the technical proposal).
· The preferred format for the submission is PowerPoint and Word.
· Technical and Financial proposals will need to be submitted as separate documents in the same email. Financial proposals will not be opened until the conclusion of the technical evaluation and then only for those proposals that are deemed qualified and responsive.**
12. Pricing
The AECF is obliged by the Kenyan tax authorities to withhold taxes on service contract fees as well as ensure VAT, is charged where applicable. Applicants are advised to ensure that they have a clear understanding of their tax position with regards to provisions of Kenya tax legislation when developing their proposals.
