Summary
We are seeking a qualified Research Coordinator III to join our Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder research team. We are looking for a candidate with clinical research experience to coordinate an interesting Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders NIH Grant. The Research Coordinator III will be responsible for the coordination of daily activities on research studies which will include the scheduling, screening, enrollment, neuropsychological evaluations and monitoring of research patients. The Research Coordinator III will administer and score neuropsychological tests to individual patients and reports score to the Principle Investigator. The Research Coordinator III will ensure accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. The Research Coordinator will work closely with the PIs and regulatory staff to ensure the research studies are performed in accordance with federal regulations, NIH guidelines and departmental policies.
Job Purpose
Coordinates day to day activities of research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.
Job Duties
- Interviews, screens and recruits patients for research studies. (10%)
- Educates patients and the clinical staff on research studies and procedures. (5%)
- Develops research folders for assigned protocols to outline guidelines for protocol compliance and to assure complete source documentation. (10%)
- Administers one-on-one neuropsychological test batteries and motor assessments to individual patients. Obtains vital signs on study participants. (15%)
- Collects patient information, processes/completes documents and enters information into database according to procedures in the research protocol. (10%)
- Drafts, revises, and finalizes protocol summaries and research study consent forms and submits them to Baylor’s Institutional Review Board. (10%)
- Receives on the job training of MRI safety and gait assessments prior to testing study participants. (5%)
- Schedules research participant for tests and procedures such as laboratory tests, MRIs and other study specific assessments for the research protocol. (10%)
- Corresponds with research patients throughout study. (10%)
- Responsible for quality assurance audits and monitor visits. (10%)
- Orders research supplies and equipment. (3%)
- Maintains investigational drug dispensing accountability and shipping logs according to protocol guidelines. (2%)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field.
- Experience with Mini Mental State Examination or Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale a plus.
- Previous experience with NIH studies.
Other
- Knowledge of Clinical Research processes a must.
- Study management including IRB and regulatory process.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and implement patient studies and protocols.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate research studies.
