Regional Deputy Director is responsible for functioning as the second in command to a ROLI Regional Director and accountable for delivering on tactical solutions to achieve the region’s master strategy.
Principal Duties/Job Responsibilities
Functions as second in command to the ROLI Regional Director and supports the day-to-day tactical implementation of programming to achieve appropriate solutions to a defined strategy. Assists the Regional Director in the management of administrative and programmatic work within an assigned geography. Assists the Regional Director in donor relations and compliance.
In the absence of the Director, functions in the capacity of the Director within his/her assigned scope of authority.
Advises on or independently leads the development of grants and proposals for government agencies, domestic and foreign and other grantors/donors. Assists the Regional Director with oversight of the region’s development and growth through the provision of technical expertise, outreach and by seeking funding from both public and private sources.
Creates demand for programs and explores, fosters and develops new or enhances existing field-based programs and financial recommendations for action by field staff.
Assists staff with developing budget proposals for the region and is accountable for monitoring and reporting on budget performance at the micro- and macro-level. Recommends corrective actions throughout the budget period to maintain budget compliance.
Assigns research tasks to staff for the purpose of designing and implementing of programs and the supporting data for proposal development.
Functions as the principal point of contact for all M&E responsibilities within the Region.
Routinely monitors grantor requests for data and proactively resolves program inquiries to effectively manage the donors’ expectations and deliverables.
May represent ABA ROLI in presentations/briefings to donors, government officials, and law practitioners, both within and outside of the U.S.
Meets with donors and embassy staff to assess ABA ROLI’s standing, to address programmatic issues, and to provide feedback to field staff who are managing the relationship.
May oversee field-based international staff, including Country Directors.
Collaborates with the Director – Security to ensure situational awareness of potential threats within the Region.
May be responsible for providing feedback, coaching, counseling, performance appraisal, and, when warranted, applying disciple to an assigned team.
Performs other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
Possession of a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and/or the equivalent law degree from a non-U.S. country, and seven (7) years of program, operational or international development experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR possession of a Master’s Degree, nine (9) years of program, operational or international development experience, including three (3) years supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous work experience overseas.
Language proficiency in a native language within the Region.
Previous work experience in a not-for-profit, association, NGO, donor, and/or international development for profit company.
