Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies 1 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. Our 8,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. About the Role
We are looking for a project analyst to join our our Strategic Projects team in Rwanda. You will lead a variety of high priority projects and solve complex operational and strategic problems. You will get exposure to and get involved in high-level country strategy with cross-department visibility.
You will report to the Strategic Projects Manager and take on full ownership of projects, from planning, through to execution – including field work – and follow-up. You will often work directly with senior leadership. Your projects will vary depending on country priorities and project complexity, but you will manage anywhere from 2-5 projects at a time.
Responsibilities
- Lead high-priority country initiatives – You will work with relevant teams and departments to design and implement strategic projects supporting the growth of the Rwanda program. Sample projects include: 1) assessing and piloting Rwanda’s new access to market program for maize, 2) leading Rwanda’s solar strategy, 3) leading the covid-19 farmer communication strategy
- Research and development – You may be asked to conduct research to help develop new strategies, strengthen our understanding of a problem, assess opportunities, and to build relevant interventions. Sample projects include: 1) Assessing the entrepreneurship market in Rwanda and map out opportunities, 2) understanding farmers’ behaviour towards single liability loans.
- Secondment – You may be asked to take on strategic roles on a temporary basis within the Rwanda program to support key departments during stretched times.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- 3+ years experience in strategic or consulting contexts, e.g. strategic problem-solving, long-term planning or program management/design experience
- We are looking for someone who is comfortable going to the field, take full ownership of projects, and really drive projects forward independently.
- Communication and critical thinking skills – We are looking for someone who can quickly identify what matters and communicate that clearly and concisely
- Logical thinker and comfort with analysis – We are looking for someone who is a structured thinker and can use quantitative analysis to create insights and inform recommendations
- Understand complex concepts quickly and learn fast! – We are looking for someone who can step into any situation and start adding value very quickly.
- You have at least one year of experience working in the development, although this is not a strict requirement.
- Language: English (Kinyarwanda or French is also very useful)
