Rwanda Systems Manager

About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies 1 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. Our 8,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, the farmers we serve harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

About the Role

The Rwanda Systems Division is where our Logistics and Business Operations teams are housed. The biggest responsibility of the Systems Division as a whole is to ensure that everything is in place for us to serve inputs to farmers 2x per year – this includes ordering inputs ahead of the season, receiving and certifying them, setting up our data and documentation for the season, getting inputs to the site and back to the warehouses, responding to client concerns through our hotline, and conducting reconciliation and fraud investigations after each season. As the Rwanda program grows, we are also increasing our support to other Departments within the program.

  • You will be reporting to the Rwanda Systems Lead.
  • You will be an essential partner to the Rwanda Systems Lead and work on a range of projects to further the goals of the Systems Division. These responsibilities will change over time depending on the needs.
  • You will initially begin with no management responsibilities. However, you will take on at least 1 and up to 4 direct reports over time, based on the department needs and your interests.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the domain expert to Global Tech for ongoing projects within the Systems Division, especially projects related to distribution
  • Lead the input ordering process end to end (creating projections and, working with Global Inputs until deliveries arrive, allocating maize varieties to each site)
  • Manage innovations within our distributions to increase efficiency and reduce risks. Past examples include “no returns trial” and “creating TMS outside of roster.” Future projects will include allowing multiple maize varieties to be distributed to each site.
  • Serve as the point-person for compliance related matters within the Systems division, including certification
  • Identify strategies and take on projects to help Systems effectively serve other Business Units
  • Over time, undertake management responsibilities, such as managing a Rwanda Inputs Liaison, co-managing the APTC lead, and potentially the Rwanda MNO Specialist
