We are currently looking for a Senior Communications Manager to join the Fundraising and Communications team. The role would be ideal for a candidate who has solid experience in developing and implementing communication strategies, along with knowledge of a range of communications channels. With excellent writing and copyediting skills, the candidate will have a strong track record of managing digital communications and producing content.
We require the successful candidate to be able to join the team around the 21 June 2021.
Job purpose
Manage Conciliation Resources’ main communications channels to ensure our work, achievements, policy and other messages reach our target audiences. Guide and support colleagues across the organisation with all aspects of their communications activities, whether in the UK or elsewhere. The Senior Communications Manager works as part of the Fundraising and Communications team providing hands-on management and strategic direction across communications, with particular responsibility for overseeing content and Conciliation Resources’ digital channels.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience
- Advanced knowledge of different communications channels and activities and how they can be used to support achievement of an organisation’s strategic goals.
- Solid experience of developing and implementing communications strategies and plans, including setting targets and of monitoring and evaluating activities.
- Strong experience of leading on and managing an organisations’ digital communications including social media and websites, liaising with developers to improve functionality and resolve technical issues.
- Proven experience of working with the media to deliver politically attuned coverage in relevant UK and/or international media.
- Experience of producing (with filmmakers/editors/consultants where necessary) multimedia content such as photography, film and audio (essential), including some experience of basic film/audio editing (desirable).
- Knowledge of project management in relation to communications outputs and a strong track record of producing publications and other materials to time and budget.
- Experience of leading on cross-organisational communications projects and processes, including developing new policies/approaches, which effectively engage staff.
- Knowledge of how to develop templates and guidelines to support an organisation’s corporate brand.
- Experience of delivering training and successfully supporting colleagues with communications activities.
- Experience of working internationally or in a multicultural environment with a good understanding of international issues and appreciation of different cross-cultural sensitivities.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, motivate and facilitate others, and eternally represent an organisation.
- Exceptional writing, copyediting and proofreading skills, with the ability to make complex technical information accessible, write for a variety of different purposes (including website, social media, press releases, opinion pieces and case studies) and craft engaging copy to inspire target audiences.
- Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, manage a complex and varied workload, prioritise tasks and work well under pressure.
- Innovative thinking with the ability to evaluate, analyse and respond to external trends, and implement new approaches.
- Ability to think creatively, use initiative and be flexible to adapt to changing priorities as well as taking ownership and making decisions to deliver results.
- Good sense of design and presentation, including strong attention to detail and the ability to convey information in a creative, yet simple and effective way.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to use various social media and other platforms (essential), as well as design packages such as Photoshop and InDesign (desirable).
- Fluent English (essential) with an excellent working knowledge of French, Russian or Spanish (desirable).
- Willingness to work irregular hours on occasions and to travel internationally as needed.
