Co-chair NCCI’s development focused coordination groups (40%)

  • Plan, host, and co-chair the development focused coordination groups in close collaboration with the NGO co-chairs.
  • Ensure the coordination groups are relevant address the needs of NCCI’s NGO partners.
  • Encourage relevant NGOs to input into the service mapping tools in coordination with the NCCI IT officer.
  • Work with NCCI’s Senior National NGO Coordinator to increase participation of Iraqi NNGOs and Civil Society in the coordination groups.

 

Development Strategy, Mapping & External Coordination (35%)

  • Identify gaps and needs for coordination in the emerging development landscape in Iraq
  • Identify points for and lead on NGO engagement within the
  • Develop Nexus / Development Coordination mapping in Iraq.
  • Develop NCCI’s Nexus / Development Coordination Strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director, Advocacy Coordinator, Deputy Director for Government Relations and member NGOs
  • Work with NCCI’s Information Management team to maintain a development/coordination online space as a resource for NCCI members and observers

 

External Government & UN Engagement (15%)

 

  • Keep abreast of the nexus and development context in Iraq and maintain a strong and positive working relationship with external stakeholders such as UN agencies (UNDP, UNDAF, DSO…), and Government of Iraq coordination actors.
  • Develop working relationships with government, UN, donors, the Ninewa Peace & Reconciliation Working Group and others to ensure NCCI’s efforts compliment and not overlap
  • Maintain and update an NCCI Development Actors contact list.

Flexibility for additional responsibilities (10%)

  • Devotion for special projects and other tasks required by the Line Manager
  • Travel from Baghdad to Erbil frequently

 

Suggested Requirements

  • International or Iraqi candidates welcome
  • 4-year degree required, masters in peace, governance, development or related subject strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of years of work experience in NGO coordination, policy or programming operations with an emphasis on durable solutions and development.
  • Experience leading coordination activities such as multi-agency consortiums, alliances, or working groups
  • Experience in a conflict or post-conflict setting.
  • Familiarity and understanding with post-conflict and reconciliation mechanisms
  • Familiarity of humanitarian principles and response architecture
  • Strong communications, inter-personal, facilitation and coordination skills are essential
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, and strong writing and editing skills. Knowledge of Arabic strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Iraq context and
  • Strong IT skills, advanced knowledge of Microsoft family of products. as well as advanced use of the internet and online resources is required;
  • Fluency in English. Arabic strongly preferred
  • Shared values in line with the aims and objectives of NCCI
  • Position is based in Erbil or Baghdad with frequent travel between.   No relocation allowance will be provided for national candidates.
