Senior Global Human Resources Manager
Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing advanced Human Resources leadership and expertise to assigned teams—both DC-based and international—delivering related services and advisory/consulting support as well as ensuring compliance with internal policies/processes as well as relevant employment laws/regulations; and, for leading and/or participating in various Human Resources initiatives, projects, and/or functional operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Human Resources leadership to assigned teams, acting as an advisor and consultant for management and staff, providing guidance and oversight to ensure that appropriate actions are taken to address and achieve solutions for issues and needs related to performance, discipline, work relationships, or other workplace issues that impact the work environment/culture, the achievement of organizational objectives, and/or compliance with organizational policies/procedures and/or relevant U.S. and/or international employment laws/regulations.
- Execute effective employee/labor relations by analyzing, developing, implementing, and administering actions focused on maintaining positive, motivating and productive NDI-employee relationships. Conduct or assist with internal investigations related to employee complaints and/or concerns involving alleged violations of any employment laws and/or NDI policies. Respond and/or assist with responses to bargaining unit grievances in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and as required escalating issues to the CHRO and legal counsel for direction.
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of NDI policies and related procedures as well as relevant federal and local employment laws, educating and providing guidance to management and staff to ensure their accurate interpretation and application, as well as well as required compliance. Ensure knowledge, understanding, and application of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Build trust-based, collaborative and respectful relationships with management and staff, partnering with others across the organization and within Human Resources to create a positive work environment/culture through effective communications, policies and practices. Leads and/or participates in meetings within Human Resources, with assigned teams, and with others across the organization, as well as with external vendors and stakeholders as required.
- Support the talent acquisition/retention processes by working with managers to assess and determine effective organizational design and workforce planning, including the identification of required roles and qualifications to align with and meet business needs. Assists with job description development and related hiring/promotional/ development processes, including salary administration/determination that reflects sound compensation practices/guidelines and supports internal equity.
- Lead and/or participate in various Human Resources initiatives, projects, and/or functional operations, such as employee/labor relations; on- and off-boarding; staff/management training and development; succession planning; policy review, development and implementation; performance management; diversity, inclusion, and equity (DEI); workforce planning; organizational development; and process improvement/change management efforts.
- Create and/or conduct informational briefings/presentations and trainings to ensure that employees and management are informed and educated on various Human Resources-related topics, and there is consistent and shared understanding across the organization as to their impact and any associated expectations and requirements.
- Ensure effective/efficient delivery of Human Resources processes and actions that are compliant with all labor laws and documentation is prepared and maintained appropriately in accordance with established requirements. Liaise with legal counsel as needed.
- Maintain knowledge on external trends and issues that impact the organization and identify their relevance/applicability to NDI along with recommended actions to ensure compliance or support NDI’s ability to be more competitive in its hiring/retention of qualified staff.
- Create and deliver documents and other materials to support Human Resources work, to include Human Resources policies, departmental procedures, employee handbooks, performance management communications and tools, and reports.
- Conduct research and analysis on Human Resources topics and relevant Human Resources-related metrics and information, such as exit interview data, turnover, retention, and employee relations issues, providing findings, outcomes, and trends.
- Supervise and/or provide oversight to selected more junior Human Resources staff, ensuring effective leadership, performance management and other required staff management/oversight responsibilities.
- Ensure that all Human Resource information is handled with a high degree of sensitivity, confidentiality and integrity.

Parameters
This position may have supervisory or oversight responsibilities related to one or more members of the Human Resources team.
The incumbent operates under general direction based upon established goals and position accountabilities/ responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor/Industrial Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Ten years of related Human Resources experience, preferably in similar roles and within a similar global organization, with a breadth and depth of generalist experience across Human Resources functions/areas, e.g., employee/labor relations; compliance; talent management/strategy; organizational development, including training design/delivery; performance management; diversity, equity, and inclusion). Staff management experience is highly desired.
- Experience working in an organization with a unionized workforce is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of employee relations and the processes associated with analyzing, developing, implementing and administering actions focused on maintaining a positive, productive, and respectful work environment. Previous experience conducting internal investigations, assessing findings, and determining/executing appropriate recommendations/actions for resolution.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and the ability to apply that knowledge to ensure compliance. Knowledge/familiarity with international employment practices/labor laws is a plus.
- Ability to read, research and interpret complex documents and information, and recommend/take appropriate action.
- A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of employees, as well as external parties and stakeholders. The ability to build relationships, establish credibility, influence, and communicate with multicultural and multi-generational individuals and groups is key.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate information both verbally and in writing, as well as in a formal presentation format. Effective facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Attention-to-detail with a demonstrated commitment to excellence with the drive to deliver quality, timely, and value-added results and outcomes.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information and develop recommendations and plans of action. Mathematical competency.
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Ability to assess situations and information, think creatively, devise better ways of doing things and/or innovative solutions, apply discretion, and make good/appropriate judgements.
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential/sensitive information and ensure it is secured/maintained in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to work both independently and effectively as a member of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (WORD, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with Human Resource Information System HRIS) usage. Experience with G-Suite for business or similar software experience preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish, French and/or Arabic is a plus.

- A Human Resources certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, etc.) is a plus.
Work Environment
- This position generally works in an office environment and is eligible to telecommute.
- There may be occasional international travel associated with this role. There also may be local travel depending on events, outreach/engagement activities, and/or other external meetings.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear; is occasionally required to walk; will use hands and fingers to operate, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with the hands and arms; must be able to work for prolonged periods of sitting or standing at desk and working at a computer; and may be required to lift/carry computer equipment at times.
