How are you going to make an impact..

To effectively carry out our mandate and to do proper project management and monitoring of our humanitarian work, as well as achieve our TdH Strategic Objectives for Humanitarian Aid in 2020 & 2021, we need an Senior Humanitarian Aid Coordinator

The purpose of this role is to support and strengthen the humanitarian programs through developing strong local partnerships, excellent program management, monitoring and evaluation support, sound administration and financial know-how. And to acquire new donors and raise funds to assist in humanitarian disasters worldwide.

Position within the organisation

The position is part of the Institutional Partnerships Unit made up of 3 fundraisers and a Humanitarian Aid Coordinator and reports directly to the Manager of Institutional Partnerships. The role is for 36 hours a week and is based in The Hague with occasional travel to the field.

We will challenge you to…

  • Lead the development of Humanitarian strategies, policies and approaches

  • Represent TdH in relevant Humanitarian networks such as the the Dutch Relief Alliance

  • Maintain strong relations with current humanitarian donors and establish new relations with institutional donors, INGO’s, government bodies and other stakeholders;

  • Support country offices in developing their humanitarian programs, track record and accessing institutional donors

  • Institutional fundraising for expansion of the TdH humanitarian portfolio

  • Writing and supporting proposal development for a variety of donors, including ECHO and Dutch Relief Alliance, with input from the Country Offices.

  • Overseeing, monitoring and managing Humanitarian projects in line with TdH policies and donor guidelines and regulations and the project logframe, including submission of final reports.

  • Keep certifications up to date with the support of the integrity officer like CHS, FPA

  • Responsible for the implementation of the fundraising plan in such a way that the organization has at its disposal the desired financial resources in accordance with the objectives

  • To demonstrate our program tangible impact in a compelling way and to provide robust proof of the concept of the work we have done

Who are you? You have:

  • A master’s degree or equivalent in social science or similar field

  • Multi-year (5-7) relevant experience working in a similar position including field experience

  • Experience with humanitarian assistance and disaster management and thorough knowledge of humanitarian principles and standards

  • Knowledge of the market and know how to build and maintain a good relationship with partners.

  • Experience developing proposals

  • Strong projects management skills and the ability to manage programs in complex humanitarian settings

  • Experience in managing ECHO and/or DRA projects is highly desirable

  • Proven track record in identifying, creating and capitalizing on institutional funding opportunities and building and maintaining an international network;

  • Proactive attitude, flexible personality, strong interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Fluent command of English and Dutch and preferably French;

  • Ability to travel and work in a cross-cultural environment.

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, interpersonal and cross cultural sensitivity.
