The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a self-motivated Senior Project Manager to lead the development of the Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network (SBN) strategy and workplan in Pakistan.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the role

The Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network (SBN) is looking for a self-motivated, team player to lead the development of the SBN Pakistan. The SBN is one of four global networks within the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement which supports 59 Countries, including Pakistan, to develop multi-stakeholder strategies to scale up nutrition at national level. The SBN is the principal vehicle for business engagement in SUN, both in informing the ongoing policy, advocacy and knowledge sharing agenda, and in tracking the commitments and program investments of businesses in support of SUN national nutrition strategies.

The network’s ambition in Pakistan is to increase the availability and affordability of safe, nutritious foods in Pakistan through: Improving the enabling environment for business to take action on nutrition; Assessing the challenges and opportunities facing business in scaling up their investments in nutrition; Fostering partnerships between business and other nutrition partners, such as government, civil society, donor and the UN and; Ensuring that the SBN mobilizes business behind the government’s National Nutrition Strategy.

This role will support with implementation of SBN Pakistan’s strategy, work plans and will develop a new fundraising concepts leading to new funding opportunities for the network sustainability and future prospects.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support review of progress against the Scaling Up Nutrition business engagement strategy in Pakistan so as to inform development of the implementation plan. Work plan to be aligned with SBN’s Impact Pathway and relevant Government or SUN3.0 strategy and action plan.
  • Collaborate effectively and coordinate with SBN members at all levels among private, public and UN relevant partners to influence their strategic agenda and alignment of their work plans with government policies
  • Support the business partners in reformulation of nutritious products according to the government of Pakistan standards by providing technical support and facilitating registration of new nutritious food products
  • Organize technical and political level meetings between business leaders and other key SUN stakeholders, such as government, civil society, academicians, bilateral and multilateral donors to strengthen cross-sector dialogue and build consensus on priorities and opportunities
  • Identify new partnerships to address the challenges and opportunities facing business in scaling up nutrition
  • Undertake/support fundraising activities in country to maintain the national SBN and its activities

About you

Candidates for this position should have a proven track record of excellent relationship management experience. You must also be able to think strategically and have experience in strategic planning and/or project management and design.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s or Masters level in development studies / management / international relations/health/nutrition/ economics/business or other social/basic sciences) or equivalent work experience
  • Strong experience with international development, private sector development, and public-private partnerships
  • Experience in communications and advocacy for development
