The internal Task Team (TT) on Anti-Racism and Discrimination requires a short-term individual contractor for 2 months, starting as soon as possible (Nov 20 onwards) to help with the following tasks:
- Support finalization of the Action Plan on Anti-Racism and Discrimination prepared by the TT, including organization of focus group discussions with staff, consultations with key Business Owner Divisions and other stakeholders on the AP, researching good practices from other organizations for inclusion in the AP, etc. – in collaboration with the TT sub-group on the AP
- Support Data sub-group and DHR in the collection and analysis, presentation of data on race/ethnicity and other forms of discrimination, including on career development
- Lead a mapping of all of UNICEF’s current/ongoing and planned anti-racism and discrimination work (CO/RO/HQ levels), including trainings, learning sessions, briefings, expert advice and engagement, etc. to come up with an overall picture of the scope, range, quality and impact of the work being done in this area so far
- Work closely with the TT and with relevant DHR colleagues on all of the above.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant social science field;
- At least 3 years of professional experience with UN/UNICEF and/or civil society on staff issues, human resources, social justice issues, etc.
- Demonstrated interest/commitment to anti-racism and discrimination, social justice issues.
- Excellent research and analytical skills (ability to synthesize information quickly from different sources; communicate it effectively in writing).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision (as this work will be done remotely from the individual contractor’s home location) and deliver quality products/deliverables.
- Fluency in English is required (the TT’s working language is English).

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
