The Team

ClimateWorks Australia is an expert, independent adviser, acting as a bridge between research and action to accelerate the transition to net zero emissions for Australia and the Asia Pacific. It was co-founded in 2009 by The Myer Foundation and Monash University and works within the Monash Sustainable Development Institute. ClimateWorks Australia also benefits from strong relationships with an international network of affiliated organisations that support effective policies, financing and action for greenhouse gas emissions reductions. In the pursuit of our mission, ClimateWorks looks for innovative opportunities to reduce emissions, building an evidence-base for action.

The Opportunity

As a System Lead you will take ownership of a designated system and advance ClimateWorks’ overarching goal to reduce emissions across Australia and Asia Pacific, including managing and delivering on the development the programs relevant to this system.

Working in close collaboration with numerous teams across the organisation you will help to ensure ClimateWorks’ impact on emissions reduction in the relevant system is realised and maximised across multiple geographical locations.

The System Lead will take a system change approach to developing, designing and implementing high-impact programs and identifying strategies for global system best practice interventions that enable emissions reduction at scale, leveraging the expertise of the Systems Change and Capability, International and Country Context and Operations teams.

Key to this role will be your establishment, development and maintenance of exceptional high-level relationships within the designated system across multiple geographies and your ability to leverage those relationships to drive system change.

You will be accountable for teams tasked with delivering programs within the designated system, via the Program Delivery framework and be required to closely manage impact, delivery timeline, budget and reporting objectives.

A key senior member of the ClimateWorks’ team, the System Lead will represent ClimateWorks externally at system level forums and in the media (in accordance with media protocol).

We currently have 3 System Lead positions available at ClimateWorks. Each role will be dedicated to one of the following areas:

1. Food, Land & Oceans
   The Food, Land & Oceans system focuses on how we can accelerate systems change in land use, agriculture, forestry, oceans & fisheries.

2. Energy
   The Energy system focuses on how we can accelerate systems change in line with the goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees in energy supply, demand and market reform, with a key focus on electricity.

3. Sustainable Finance
   The Sustainable Finance system focuses on how we can accelerate systems change in line with the goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees in public, private and development finance and investment sector policy and reform.
