You will provide technical advice, guidance, and support to a wide range of program design and implementation issues with a focus on the emergency response in Ethiopia, primarily, with some support to other EARO countries (Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia,
Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania) in the area of protection and protection mainstreaming in line with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) program quality principles and standards, donor guidelines, and industry best practices to regional and Country Program (CP) teams to advance the delivery of high-quality programming to the poor and vulnerable. Your technical knowledge, advice and guidance will contribute to determining the quality, safety and effectiveness of CRS’ protection programming across the region. You will support the region and CPs to enhance safe and dignified programming in all sectors and accountability to affected populations.
This position
will primarily focus on supporting the Ethiopia Country Program and its emergency response work. In year one of the position, the level of effort (LOE) is expected to be 75% support to Ethiopia. Following the first year, the LOE per CP will be re-assessed based on CP and regional needs.

Preferred requirements:

  • Knowledge of mainstreaming protection in WASH, shelter, cash and voucher programming, and food assistance desired.

  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-sector teams on the mitigation of GBV risks in programming.

Required Languages – Written and spoken English fluency is required.
Travel – This position will be an international telecommuting positions with substantial travel to Ethiopia and other countries within the region. Must be willing and able to travel up to 50%, includi

aster-affected and insecure areas.

Basic Qualifications
? Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Gender, or similar field related to protection and humanitarian/development work required.
? Minimum of five years relevant international working experience in an advisory or management role with progressive responsibilities, ideally with an international NGO, with minimum of three years working for programming interventions
in protection (GBV prevention and response and/or child protection) and protection mainstreaming
? Previous experience providing technical assistance and developing successful proposals for external donor funding is required.
? Demonstrated application of technical principles and concepts in stand
alone pr
otection and protection mainstreaming. General knowledge of other related disciplines to ensure proper cross-sectoral approach.
? Experience in business development, project design and proposal development in protection and protection mainstreaming, including technical writing.
? Experience in mentoring, coaching, facilitation and training applying adult learning principles and practices.
? Experience with program monitoring and evaluation, including applying data collection tools and methodologies, data analysis, and data presentation.
? Experience and skills in networking and relations with donors, peer
organizations, and faith-based and civil society partners. Understanding of partnership principles.
? Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, knowledge-sharing networks.
