About MAG:
MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.
**
About the Myanmar programme:
Following decades of armed conflict, Myanmar has one of the highest levels of landmine contamination in the world. MAG has worked there since 2013 and now has operations in four states. To date, MAG’s work in Myanmar has focused on supporting the development of national mine action approaches and providing risk education to local communities and INGO’s living and working in contaminated areas. However, the Myanmar government has recently instructed for semi-permanent fencing and technical survey activities to take place and this is now the first time in Myanmar’s history that technical resources are being deployed as part of humanitarian mine action activities.

As a senior technical manager, you will be responsible for ensuring quality, safety and efficiency in our operations. You will hold a recognisable EOD qualification and have extensive experience in planning, implementing, managing, improving and reporting on technical operations.

You must be qualified to the equivalent of EOD level 3, with significant experience in the technical and operational management of landmine clearance including task planning and prioritisation, writing and reviewing SOPs, assessing clearance methodology and reviewing operational structures. Previous experience of working for a similar organisation, either in the humanitarian or commercial sector is essential, experience of managing a start-up technical operation would be desirable. Furthermore, you will be able to demonstrate excellent people management skills with previous experience of recruiting, mentoring and capacity building national staff. You will have high quality reporting skills and sound knowledge of IMAS as well as other NMAS. You will need to be flexible and capable of developing an understanding of the operating environment in Myanmar quickly in order to lead and contribute.
