VC (Viatores Christi) is development organisation (with its HQ in Ireland and a regional office in Kampala, Uganda) working within faith-based international development. VC works with over 30 partners across a range of sectors and countries. VC addresses needs through development and humanitarian assistance interventions and recruits, trains and places skilled personnel. In 2018, over 158,000 individuals directly benefited from the work of VC across partners in the areas of health, education, human rights, income generation and livelihoods. The organisation is also funded by Irish Aid through its intermediary organisation Misean Cara. VC is also engaged with EU Volunteering Aid Initiative (EUAVI) and Erasmus+ projects.
Summary
A vacancy for a Training & Project Support Officer (based remotely) has arisen within VC and it now seeks an enthusiastic development/humanitarian aid professional to help bring its online training programme to the next level and provide support to the increasing portfolio of projects within the sub-Saharan African region as well as Cambodia, Haiti and also its growing EU funded projects. This remote working role will be multifaceted and will be of interest to experienced candidates seeking an exciting new challenge.
Duties
It is envisaged that the role will have three main areas of focus, but will be moulded to the skillset of the applicant.
- The ongoing development of our training programme both online and face to face in line with the strategic direction for VC
- Project and partner support in a wide range of areas, including reports, new project development including our new EU ESC volunteering and ERASMUS+ programmes
- Communications and social media engagement
The Training and Project Support Officer will act as a support in the following four key areas.
Upskills Online Training and Venture Training for Development Programme
The Training and Project Support Officer will play a major part in bringing this online programme of training to the next level:
• Explore and develop opportunities to grow and expand the VC Upskills Online training portfolio.
• Manage and ensure ongoing quality of all online training in terms of content, delivery and online platforms.
• Continue the ongoing development and the efficient running of 4 weekend workshops twice per year at the VC HQ in collaboration with external facilitators to deliver the Venture – Training for Development programme. These training weekends are currently on hold due to the pandemic but may be delivered online in early 2022 or using a hybrid method of training.
Project Support
The Officer will act as a support to the projects team in the areas of:
• Programme coordination for VC’s international projects
• Assisting with the development and assessment of project grant proposals,
• Co-ordination and review of progress reports from partners
• Engaging in VC’s increasing portfolio of EU programmes (Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps)
Communications/Project Support for EU Projects
The Officer will undertake dissemination of results for VC and EU funded projects and manage the following:
• Social media for dissemination and marketing purposes.
• Informing key stakeholders such as partners and funders about the impact of our work
• Outbound digital marketing campaigns
• Website updates
Additional areas
• Attendance at training events, conferences and other functions as necessary
• Familiarise and keep up to date on policies and procedures
• Organisation of and attendance at fundraising or networking events as required
Essential Skills

Training experience/adult education/Development Education

Experience of international development projects and funding proposals

Experience and/or knowledge of international development.

Marketing, PR/Communications degree or other equivalent qualification or experience.

Reporting / Relationships Structures
The successful candidate will be based remotely will report to the Programmes Manager in Dublin. Working as part of the VC team, he or she will also work closely with the VC Uganda team to ensure that output is in line with agreed strategy and that all aspects outlined above are delivered.
