Main purpose of job:
The British Embassy in Brasilia invites applications from students in at least their 3rd semester for the above part-time position. This is a challenging and rewarding position within the Trade and Economics (T&E) team.
This role is intended to provide support to the programme side of the Trade and Economics Team in all aspects of its work: including administrative support as well as analytical and data support.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
The successful candidate will be involved in:
- Supporting the team with admin project management work, specifically within the PF Trade Facilitation Portfolio (including support to implementation of activities, documents filing, and information keeping).
- Providing support with trade and economic analysis and reporting on significant international trade issues in Brazil (including gathering information and presenting it in written and graphic format).
- Scheduling meetings, organising travel, events and visits, and liaising with key stakeholders (internal and external) including other government departments.
- Assist in overall administrative activities (tracking the team budget, updating team list of contacts and keeping team’s documents organised).
You will be expected to work flexibly across the network’s priorities.
Essential on arrival:
- Working towards a degree on International Relations, Economics, Business Administration or related field (minimum 4th semester)
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and written skills in both English and Portuguese;
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft package (word, excel, outlook and teams)
Desirable:
- Experience of working with government or public institutions
- Understanding of the Brazilian domestic economy
- Knowledge of Brazilian trade policy and ongoing negotiations
