Main purpose of job:
The Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG) Senior Management Council (ASMC) in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is looking for a Secretariat Staff Officer to join their team. The incumbent will be a member and key enabler/co-ordinator of the FVEY ASMC Secretariat with specific duties associated to support the ASMC and ASMC Coordination Executive (ACE) as well as the ASG functional Fora. This is an NGA Integree position – requiring regular access to TS/FVEY material.
Candidates will therefore require DV level clearance. This opportunity is open to UK nationals only with the required level of clearance. This is a full-time position with a duration of 2 years 6 months until 31 May 2024.
Please note the position will be based in Springfield, Virginia.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Reporting directly to the ACE on the efficiency and effectiveness of specific FVEY GEOINT and GEOINT-related plans, programs, functions, resources, and capabilities across the ASG. Specifically:
- Act as a key enabler in coordinating effective engagement and collaboration across the collective ASG Secretariat and with ASG partners.
- Assist in the management of and collaboration across the ASG, ASG subcommittees, and/or ASG working groups through effective communication strategies.
- Develop and implement a community engagement plan.
- Track actions and tasks to the staffs and functional fora members.
- Coordinate positions concerning relevant issues and activities, to include alternative views.
- Communicate status reports on activities, findings, and recommendations for ACE consideration and action.
- Represent the ASMC and ACE at FVEY GEOINT and U.S. IC, DoD, and NSG forums.
- Objectively represent cross-organizational interests, priorities and divergent viewpoints independent of parent organisation or national affiliation.
- Other duties and functions as necessary, related to GEOINT functional management and governance, as assigned by the ASMC and ACE principals.
- Must have a valid UK passport;
- Under US State Department requirements, the UK Government in the US may only employ, as non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Permanent Residents or A visa holders with EAD cards*. - Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of applications;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Confidence in speaking with senior stakeholders;
- Language: fluent written and spoken English.
- Three-five years’ experience in UK Defence Intelligence.

Learning and development opportunities:
Various learning on the job requirements as necessary will be delivered by NGA.
Working patterns:
Monday – Thursday 8:00 – 6:00, Friday 8:00 – 3:00 (core working hours are 10:00 – 3:00).
There is room for some flexibility to accommodate working from home depending on mission need.
Travel:
The requirement to travel internationally on occasion to support ASG meetings in one of the FVEY host nations will be necessary.
