The DIT Australia has a vacancy for a Stakeholder Engagement and British Business Network (BBN) Manager. The British Business Network is the DIT’s professional diaspora, which seeks to support the DIT teams to increase trade and investment relations between Australia and the UK. This role will be responsible for managing BBN membership, which consists of over 500 members across Australia, to ensure the Network adds value to and supports the work of the DIT ANZ Network.
This role sits within the Performance and Delivery Team and is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic growth and engagement plan for the future direction of the BBN, as well as a communication strategy for Network members and staff. The BBN Manager is also responsible for the successful management of Network events and will be required to support wider DIT and FCDO activities, including (but not limited to) inward Trade Missions, Ministerial visits and VIP visits. They will be required to manage an up to date membership database and grow and maintain a quality and valuable membership base.
A large part of the role will be around mapping stakeholders in business, government and regulatory organisations and developing strategic engagement plans in accordance with the overarching DIT Country Business Plan. This will involve working closely with colleagues across the Australian and New Zealand network as well as teams across Asia Pacific, ensuring strong collaboration and communication with the FCDO Prosperity teams.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
- Working collaboratively with Trade and Investment Sector Teams in Australia and New Zealand to add value to the work of the DIT ANZ Network, including responding to customer enquiries and supporting wider DIT and FCDO activity.
- Stakeholder mapping, strategy and engagement across government, business and regulatory organisations; delivery of workshops, roundtables and forum discussions to support the UK/Aus Free Trade Agreement.
- Event management of BBN events around Australia, including launch events, roundtables, seminars and large scale events and working with teams at post to manage logistical requirements.
- Proficiently use Aventri to issue invitations and manage responses.
- Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date membership database, using appropriate CRM systems.
- Collaborating with the Marketing and Communications Team to develop relevant BBN marketing material, case studies and good news stories. Responsible for BBN social media accounts, including LinkedIn and newsletters.
- High level logistical support for Ministerial and VIP visits.
- Support the Prosperity Teams in Australia on the UK’s Trade Policy Agenda, including COP26 and Race to Zero by identifying and engaging with relevant stakeholders and industry bodies.
- Support the COP26 APAC agenda working with colleagues in the APAC region to promote and amplify UK messaging.
- Develop and maintain strategic growth plan and communication plan, including writing and distributing monthly BBN newsletter and updates.
- Engage in strong stakeholder engagement to meet with prospective and existing BBN members to develop and grow a quality Network.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
No direct line management responsibility. Management of BBN budget, expenditure and resources.
Essential on arrival:
- The successful candidate will demonstrate capacity to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver results that benefit the UK economy.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to appropriately adapt communication style according to audience.
- The successful candidate will possess the ability to work collaboratively within a cross-sectorial and geographical dispersed team as well as autonomously to manage expectations, contribute to achieving DIT and wider FCDO objectives.
- The ability to prioritise workloads effectively, manage competing priorities, self-manage and deliver results under pressure.
- Previous event management experience is essential as well as experience with resource management.

- Experience working with member-based associations and CRM systems is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with strategic business development.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
