Main purpose of job

The Communications Intern reports to the Communications and Chevening Officer at the British Embassy in Caracas. The intern supports the Political Team in the areas of communications & social media, political reporting, events management and Chevening scholarships. The intern also provides logistical and administrative support to the team. 

 Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

  • To prepare the daily press report for the review of the Political and Security Officer;
  • To support the Communications Officer in managing the Embassy’s social media accounts;
  • To support the Communications Officer in other media activities;
  • To lead on the logistics of the Chevening selection process;
  • To coordinate and/or provide logistical support for events;
  • To support the monitoring of some Embassy projects;
  • To carry out other administrative duties;
  • To represent the Embassy in specific events and write readouts;
  • To assist in the research and editing of ad hoc political reports;
  • To assist the Political Team in other activities when needed.

Recent graduates or students in the final year of the careers (who have finished all courses) of International Relations, Liberal Studies, Political Science, Journalism, Public Relations or related disciplines.

–  Excellent writings skills (both in English and Spanish).

–  Experience in social media management. Basic image and video editing skills.

– Attention to details.

– Proactive and ability to learn quickly. Proficiency in MS Office software.

– Team player.

– Strong organisational skills.

Level of language required: Advanced (both written and oral). 

The successful candidate must be eligible to work and live in Venezuela.
