Main purpose of job:
The British Consulate-General in Sao Paulo is seeking a new intern who is passionate about communications, connected to the latest trends on social media and is interested in a multinational experience by working in an environment where they will be able to flourish, learn and further develop their professional skills while assisting the Communications team.
The ideal candidate must be an individual with a personal ambition to grow and play a part in the continuing relation between the United Kingdom and Brazil.
This position is part of a cross-post team which creatively supports projects across a wide range of initiatives developed and implemented by the UK in Brazil Network. Amongst the main responsibilities of this role are: creating and development of social media content, press and media engagement, news monitoring and reporting, as well as supporting events, ministerial visits and general activities throughout the other posts (BSB, RJ, BH and Recife)
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
This position will provide support on comms around events, high level visits/missions, the GREAT Britain campaign, internal comms and regional issues including Prosperity Fund, Soft-Power (Chevening), Climate, Science and others. Administrative support will also be required.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Provide support on events, official visits and comms initiatives, including photo and digital coverage and development of a diverse set of comms materials.
- Develop and support all internal comms initiatives such as the bulletin board, digital newsletters, staff events and special campaigns.
- Collaborate in engagement with the media, by writing press releases and reports, preparing mailing lists and contacting journalists.
- Contribute in special projects, accompanying the development and implementation of strategic comms plans.
- Support the work of digital communication, by creating specific digital communications plans, implementing them and monitoring impacts.
- Help on administrative tasks, including contact with suppliers, documents management and data base update.
- Monitor discussions on global issues in the media and elaborate daily clippings for the organisation´s network.
- Support in promoting GREAT branding – through events, organising material, and supporting production/delivery/ of marketing material.
The candidate must be a 2nd or 3rd year student in Communication or Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertisement and correlated areas. Candidates from different courses could be considered pending their application and motivation for the job.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills both in Portuguese (native) and English (fluent). High interest in the Brazilian political scenario. Interest and knowledge of the UK culture and politics would be an advantage. Familiarity with social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn and knowledge of Office package are essential.
The successful candidate must also have good interpersonal communication skills and be a strong team-player. The job position requires flexibility and a willingness and ability to deal with multiple tasks and priorities.
Familiarity with design and visual communication tools would be a strong advantage.
Knowledge in image and video edition is desirable, but not essential.
Organisation skills and good attention to details are desirable.

Eligibility to work and live in Brazil is required.
