Main purpose of job:
The Embassy’s Communications Team will mainly focus its public diplomacy activities on furthering the COP26 summit and the Integrated Review agenda, to promote the UK as a force for good in Latin America and Paraguay and develop work opportunities with key stakeholders.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
The Comms intern will help the team make the most of the opportunities that will arise to promote the UK to a targeted audience. It will require communication skills (drafting, editing, designing) to be able to contribute to public diplomacy ideas.
• To support the Political and Communications Assistant in managing the Embassy’s social media accounts and creating content;
• To assist in the organisation of the Embassy’s cultural activities;
• To assist in the research and editing of political and communications reports according to different occasions;
• To support the Political and Communications Assistant in other media activities and projects
• To contribute to public diplomacy ideas, planning and delivering events as well as liaising with key stakeholders.
• To help identify possible work and development opportunities, stakeholders and partners.
• Design and produce promotional material for circulation at activities and events such as invitations, brochures, banners, videos, etc.
• Assist in managing media for Embassy’s projects and activities: putting together contact lists, drafting press releases and reports, taking photos and videos.
• Monitoring media for specific news and references.
Essential on arrival:
- Graphic design skills
- Basic video editing skills
- Good writing/drafting skills in both languages
- Digital literacy
- Working knowledge of social media
- Working in a team
- Experience in creative content
Must have the right to work in Paraguay.
Language requirements:
Language: Spanish, English
Level of language required: Spanish: Native or C1, English: C1.
Desirable:
Experience in campaign planning, clipping management, knowledge in political and current affairs.

Subject to line manager approval, the successful candidate will have a broad range of L&D opportunities offered by the organisastion, including e-learning related to international work, specific digital communications training and more
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Working hours would be from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. We can be flexible with the working pattern if the intern needs to assist to class, but prefer if the intern could work 4 hours per day.
