Main purpose of job:
The Content Officer will be responsible for creating and managing engaging and dynamic digital content for a range of marketing communications to promote the UK as the partner for investment and trade as well as showcasing how DIT can help businesses across North America.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Work with Head of Marketing Services, Senior Content Manager, Marketing Campaign team and HQ content team to create and maintain dynamic network content calendar.
- Create engaging content for social media channels including drafting compelling copy, produce stunning visual content in a variety of formats from photo imagery to graphics, GIF Instagram stories and reels that fit the voice and look of DIT.
- Own day-to-day management and planning of content aligned with our marketing calendar to drive brand awareness, audience growth, traffic and lead generation on our North America social channels.
- Work with Senior Content Manager, campaign managers to deploy and drive our employee advocacy tool.
- Draft and schedule thought leadership content for our HMTC aligned with our marketing and content calendars.
- Monitor daily newsfeed, stakeholder activity and digital engagements.
- Compile weekly digital metrics for identifying successes and areas for improvement to share digital insights and best practice with wider DIT team.
- Minimum of BA in English, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing or related field of study;
- Minimum 3+ years of proven social media experience creating content and growing social channels at a brand, agency or editorial media outlet;
- Stellar copywriting skills, with a knack for story telling;
- Fluent in a range of social platforms, most especially LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook;
- Ability to create content for a variety of media and audiences;
- Proven expertise in growing social follower counts and extensive knowledge and understanding of audience engagement across social platforms;
- Ability to create videos and graphic assets in Canva (or ability to learn quickly) and/or InDesign;
- Proven experience using various social tools such as Hootsuite, Canva, link builders and social media advocacy tools;
- Must be creative, well-organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize;
- Attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines;
- Basic knowledge of Google Analytics, digital metrics and Social content strategies;
- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel;
- Under US State Department requirements, the UK Government in the US may only employ, as non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Permanent Residents or A visa holders with EAD cards*. - Basic Video editing skills preferred;
- HMTL editing;
- InDesign and Photoshop capability.
