Main purpose of job:
This is a fantastic and varied job working in one of the key Diplomatic missions in Kingston. You will work closely with the Head of Corporate Services and the Deputy High Commissioner. We are seeking to recruit a professional individual with Strong Customer Service, Administrative, Budget & Finance and H.R skills for the position of Deputy Head of Corporate Services. The main purpose of the role is to support the operational delivery of Corporate Services and to ensure a smooth and seamless delivery of the service to all staff.
To monitor the Corporate Services Budget of £3m and provide Budgetary & Financial guidance to all budget holders.
To provide professional H.R guidance to both CBS and UK based staff by providing advice to ensure compliance with Local Labour Law and Local Terms and Conditions. Supporting the Senior Management Team with any sensitive HR issues, engaging with specialist HR functions where necessary.
To Provide Support to our smaller High Commission in Nassau, Bahamas by being the point of contact for all Corporate Services related matters.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
Budget & Finance Management:
· To Monitor expenditure activities of the Corporate Services Budget which covers the key functional areas of the business ranging from Diplomacy to Utilities.
HR & People Management
· To provide advice and direction on H.R related matters and directly manage a team of 3 Administration Officers.
Support Nassau, Bahamas
· To be the main point of contact for Nassau and provide Corporate Services Support to the smaller Mission.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
· Line Manage 3 x A2 (L) Corporate Services Officers
· Oversee £3M Budget
Essential on arrival:
- At least 1 years’ experience in budget/finance role
- At least 1 years’ Team leading experience
- Strong Customer service skills
Candidate should also possess:
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team, and provide support to colleagues where required.
- Ability to organize time effectively while taking into account customer needs and requirements.
Language requirements:
Applicant must be fluent in written and spoken English
Desirable:
- Formal training in finance & business administration, or equivalent
- Knowledge of local employment law
- Resilient; able to deal with pressure and work flexibility to deal with competing demands

Working patterns:
Standard working hours are from 08:00-16:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:00-13:00 on Fridays.
· The British High Commission in Jamaica offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. This is a full-time, permanent engagement.
· The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
· The appointment will also be subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.
