Main purpose of job
The Economics and Energy Intern reports to the Sustainable Development Officer at the British Embassy in Caracas. The intern will assist the Economics and Energy Policy team at achieving its objectives by researching, analysing and reporting on economic, energy and development issues; and supporting the team’s programme implementation. The intern will also provide logistical and administrative support for the team. The position offers a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and practical exposure to economics, energy policy and sustainable development.
What will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
- Research, analyse and report on key macroeconomic developments in Venezuela as well as energy issues. Manage quantitative and qualitative tools for risk analysis (50%).
- Monitor the delivery of projects on economic reform and support the management of the section’s programme (35%).
- Coordinate the organisation of meetings, official events and other engagements. Support budget management (15%).
- Young professionals with no more than three (3) years of graduating from Economics, International Relations, Liberal Studies, Political Science or related disciplines, with a particular interest in economics.
- Recent graduates or students in final year of any of the mentioned majors who have finished all mandatory courses and have thesis or graduation act pending.
- Good understanding of economic and development issues in Venezuela.
- Good knowledge of MS Office software, particularly Excel and Word.
- Good research and report writing skills.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- Previous project management experience.
