The Enhanced International Support Service (EISS) programme is DIT’s pioneering new global initiative to help drive exports from high potential small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) based in the UK into new markets,  providing free off-the-shelf advice/data on specific markets and regions. Based in South Asia, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic regions across the globe, this is a challenging and exciting opportunity to work in the newly established EISS Triage Hub located in the Deputy High Commission in Mumbai.

As an EISS Triage Hub assistant you will lead on various tasks to facilitate the smooth running of the Hub, including record keeping, data management, and process monitoring to ensure timely delivery of enquiries support and to support the Triage Hub Manager. You will also utilise and develop your commercial skills, monitoring budget use of EISS, and keep track of spend, forecasts and charging codes.

You will support the Regional Manager in internal communication, setting up regular calls and meetings and producing internal monitoring materials for the regional EISS team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Record, allocate, track, trace, and report all SME enquiries, and ensure all enquiries are accurately and timely entered internal systems.
  • Provide resolutions to simple enquiries based on templates and set guidance, escalate handling of enquiries and engagement with UK companies to Hub Managers as needed.
  • Prepare documentation and data to support internal DIT South Asia reporting tools including devising metrics and compiling reports.
  • Lead on submission and entry into DIT digital channels, both internal such as Datahub, and external such as Export opportunities site – following guidance and best practice from HQ.
  • Upload relevant interactions onto Data Hub.
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support to the EISS Regional Manager as required.
  • Be prepared to fill in for the Enquiry Hub Manager in direct handling of enquiries and engagement with UK companies as needed.
  • Support post-service engagement and surveys with customers.
  • Support EISS Regional Manager to prepare monthly Management Information reports.
  • Helping the Hub Manager with overall monitoring of the budgets,  keeping track of spend, forecasts and charging codes. 

Language requirements: 

Language: English, Hindi 

Level of language required: Excellent written and spoken English and excellent spoken Hindi

Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed): 

The Deputy British High Commission in India and the Department for International Trade offer excellent training opportunities to employees. A successful candidate will be asked to complete an induction course and further training will be offered tailored to individual needs. The candidate will need to travel within India and internationally (COVID permitting), with opportunities to travel to the UK for sector related events and training courses.

Working patterns: 

Full time. The Deputy British High Commission New Mumbai is currently working the majority of the time from home due to the pandemic. Regular working from home options may be available in line with the prevalent Post policy.

You will occasionally be required to support activities and events outside of normal working hours and have to travel, depending on business needs.

Qualifications:

A graduate/postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification. Candidates without the required educational qualifications but with exceptional practical experience will be considered. 

Essential:

  • At least 1 years’ experience working in a customer facing and/or trade related job.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Working in a regional role.
  • Experience of data analysis and interpretation.
  • Can do attitude and resourcefulness in solving problems.
  • Strong IT skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint. 

Desirable:

Experience working in a regional role, preferably the South Asia region.

For other than BHC candidates, Basic Salary will be INR 47,354 per month together with a 12% provident fund and 6% Special Allowance.

No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.

Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
