The Enhanced International Support Service (EISS) programme is DIT’s pionerinng new global initiative designed to help drive exports from high potential small to medium sized entrorises (SMEs) based in the UK into new markets,  providing free off-the-shelf advice/data on specific markets and regions. Based in South Asia, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic regions accross the globe, this is a challenging and exciting opportunity to lead the newly established Triage Hub located in the Deputy High Commission in Mumbai.

As the Triage Hub Manager, you will be the first point of contact for UK SME enquiries in the EISS Hub, responsible for making informed and timely decisions on the best approach for each enquiry and customer.  With the opportunity to call and speak directly with SMEs, you will require broad understanding of the strengths and weaknesses on the EISS network and team, and the Overseas Referral Network (ORN) suppliers. You will be the first level of oversight of services delivered by EISS Trade Advisors, and will be expected to maintain a regional view, advising companies on availability of export support material available.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Working with the Regional Manager you will support the running of the South Asia Hub through responsibility for the following:
  • Review and respond to all enquiries sent to the Hub. Adopting an effective relationship management approach for UK SMEs.
  • Record, allocate, track, trace and report all SME approaches, manage follow-up actions from enquiries and facilitate consultative client discussions with EISS colleagues and other key stakeholders.
  • Analyse data on enquiries and support the hub manager in drawing out key conclusions for South Asia management.
  • Work with the DIT Marketing and Communications team to create materials to promote the EISS Hub.
  • Conduct market research by sector, country and region and prepare documentation and data to support SME business and internal DIT South Asia reporting tools including devising metrics and compiling reports.
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support to the Regional Manager as required.
  • Manage follow-up actions from enquires, including objections, and facilitating consultative client discussions and across communication mediums.
  • Monitor and manage budget,  keeping track of spend, forecasts and charging codes.
  • Line management responsibility for one A2 EISS Triage Hub Assistant.

Language requirements: 

Language: English, Hindi 

Level of language required: Excellent written and spoken English and excellent spoken Hindi

Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed): 

The Deputy British High Commission in India and the Department for International Trade offer excellent training opportunities to employees. A successful candidate will be asked to complete an induction course and further training will be offered tailored to individual needs. The candidate will need to travel within India and internationally (COVID permitting), with opportunities to travel to the UK for sector related events and training courses.

Working patterns: 

Full time. The Deputy British High Commission New Mumbai is currently working the majority of the time from home due to the pandemic. Regular working from home options may be available in line with the prevalent Post policy. 

You will occasionally be required to support activities and events outside of normal working hours and have to travel, depending on business needs.

Qualifications:

A graduate/postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification. Candidates without the required educational qualifications but with exceptional practical experience will be considered. 

Essential:

  • At least 2-3 years experience working in a customer facing and/or trade related job.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Working with regional and virtual teams.
  • Strong IT skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable dealing with senior officials and businesspeople.
  • Confident in handling data and interpretation of data.
  • Can do attitude and resourcefulness in solving problems.

Desirable:

Experience working in a regional role, preferably the South Asia region.

For other than BHC candidates, Basic Salary will be INR 67,767 per month together with a 12% provident fund and 6% Special Allowance.

No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.

Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
