Main purpose of job:
In line with our ambition to build a modern partnership between the UK and Chile, the British Embassy Santiago is offering an exciting opportunity to oversee the delivery of our Embassy refurbishment project over the Summer 2020/2021 period. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager, with an eye of detail and ideally estates knowledge/experience.
This position is responsible for providing a full range of client side project and programme coordination and wider estates support and delivery services.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Project manage the Embassy refurbishment. The core project involves the full modernisation of two Embassy floors. Potential to coordinate/collaborate with wider Embassy estates reform, including the modernisation of the Ambassador’s Residence.
Develop and own PPM tools for the project. Including the development and delivery of documentation management, project compliance, monitoring and reporting, risk management, and process improvement functions to ensure that projects are managed according to project and programme management standards and are delivered within the agreed timelines and budgets.
Consultation and Coordination. Plan, organise and support project management and status review meetings by scheduling meetings with stakeholders, and taking minutes that capture the meetings and can be circulated appropriately.
GANTT. Maintain project schedules and ensure they are kept up-to-date with current progress. Contribute to delivery and activity streams to realise strategic priorities and high-level outcomes. Ensure that construction activities progress according to schedule and in accordance with health and safety standards.
Budget. Keep a close eye on the budget and provide budget administration support. Review and approve subcontractor applications for payment and vendor invoices.
Relationship management. Develop new and maintain existing business relationships with Architect/Engineers, Construction Managers and Subcontractors as necessary to ensure smooth delivery.
Language requirements:
Language: Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish
Level of language required: Minimum level required C1 under the CEFRL or equivalent).
Other skills / experience / qualifications:
- Excellent understanding and implementation of project management methodology , practices and systems
- At least 3 years project support and delivery across complex, multiple projects
- Proven experience in prioritising work within available resource to meet business needs
- Experience coordinating construction projects and vendor relationships
- Strong qualitative, quantitative analysis and financial management skills
- Record keeping and reporting skills
- Ability to build rapport with a range of people
- Ability to plan and organise own workload and prioritise effectively
- Sound judgement and decision making skills
- Logistic management especially involving multiple providers and complex delivery routes
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel and Project and other related productivity tools
- Qualification, and experience in a related field (Engineering, Construction Management, Cost Estimating or a related field to the Construction Industry.)
- Experience working with architectural firms
