Main purpose of job:

The Department for International Trade (DIT) secures UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment, and championing free trade.

In June 2020, the UK Government signed a second Government to Government (G2G) agreement in Peru to support the delivery of the £1.7bn ‘Reconstruction with Changes’ programme to rebuild infrastructure damaged in the 2017 El Nino event. This G2G agreement is an exciting next step in UK-Peru relations and sits at the heart of the bilateral relationship between both countries.

in this role you will support the delivery of the Government to Government (G2G) agreement between Peru and the United Kingdom. You will inform, connect and encourage UK exporters to access business opportunities created through the G2G agreement. You will work with colleagues and companies in London and Lima to deliver a programme of activity that highlights these opportunities, and supports UK businesses in accessing them.

The role will be three months initially with the possibility of renewal.

Roles and responsibilities:

This is an ideal position for someone with the ability to work collaboratively within an expert, enterprising, engaged and inclusive organisation with global reach. The job will be challenging and will require the successful candidate to take responsibility for delivering both quickly and to a high quality standard. You will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

This role will centre on delivering commercial benefit to the UK and will suit an individual who is confident engaging with senior contacts in both business and government. You will have a strong understanding of the importance of account management and have experience in building business relationships. You will have experience in managing or planning complex projects and/or events. You will need to keep abreast of local market and economic issues, and be willing to take the initative to solve problems.

Account management – You will build senior relationships with UK firms engaging with export opportunities in the G2G. You will support UK business in connecting with partners in Peru, and assist them in developing their strategies to land in the Peruvian market.
Pipeline management – Together with colleagues in London, you will manage a pipeline of opportunities emerging from the Reconstruction programme, and have responsibility for translating opportunities in to wins for UK companies. You will analyse and share information with UK companies, qualifying and matching companies with opportunities.
Project management – You will oversee a program of events and activity in partnership with the DIT London team the Embassy team at post, and the DIT Latin America team to encourage inform and connect businesses with opportunities in the reconstruction programme.You will ensure that promotional activity is aligned with wider UK infrastructure policy and trade objectives

You will work closely with 1xA2 Project Support Officer

  • Bilingual professional proficiency in English and Spanish to a professional level
  • Experience of business development and stakeholder relationship management
  • Ability to innovate, solve problems, prioritise, organise and manage multiple tasks
  • Committed team player with ability to self-motivate, resilience, and autonomy
  • Excellent research and report writing skills in English

  • Project management experience and/or a qualification
  • Knowledge of project management tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Reconstruction programme and/or infrastructure delivery in Peru
  • Knowledge/understanding of international trade and the business landscape in the UK and Peru
  • Presentation skills
