Main purpose of job
Support the health and education prosperity programming teams within the British Embassy on communications and programme coordination.
Roles and responsibilities
– Support delivery of both the Skills for Prosperity Programme and the Health Programme communications, specifically leading coordination between the delivery partner communications manager and the embassy communications and press teams
– Lead COVID-19 reporting both internally within the Embassy and from Mexico back to London, including compiling data and filling in weekly questionnaire on the status of the pandemic in Mexico, and contributing to COVID-19 political analysis.
– Lead drafting of lines and key messages for events and social media, and providing support for creation of high-impact communications pieces and support to senior members of staff
– Review programme deliverables, especially those related to key communication themes like the Gender and Social Inclusion Strategy and impact on ‘green skills’, and extract key statistics and results to use in communications materials
– Understand programme impact and ambition and education and health sectors in Mexico
– Coordinate Embassy sector-specific virtual team, including designating note takers and ensuring an agenda is sent out before each bi-weekly meeting, and liaising with guest speakers
– This position is split 50/50 between the health and education teams
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, organisation skills, ability to summarise information, writing texts and copy skills, social media experience (Twitter, LinkedIn), office basic skills; experience developing impact stories or storytelling.
Language requirements:
Language: English and Spanish.
Level of language required: Excellent language skills both written and spoken.
Digital design skills or familiarity with programmes such as InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, or others.

Candidates must be able to live and work in Mexico in their own right. The successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance and professional reference checks.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Working hours
Monday – Thursday 10:00 – 3:30, Friday 9:00 – 2:00 (flexible, with lunch break).
