Main purpose of job:

To work as part of the Consulate Car Pool team as a Driver and Logistical Support Officer.  The role requires the officers to carry out chauffeur driver duties for the Consul General, other senior staff and visiting VIPs.  The role includes providing a driver service for all Bag journeys within Hong Kong, mainly between the airport and the consulate. Duties will involve loading, unloading and maintaining the integrity and security of the consignment.

One of 3 Driver/Logistical Support Officers working to the Corporate Services Officer in charge of Travel and Movements.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • To carry out chauffeur driver duties for the Consul General, other senior staff and visiting VIPs
  • To take the fastest and safest routes by planning and checking the schedule making sure internal customers arriving at the location on time
  • To keep detailed records of mileage, fuel consumption and other purchases made while on duty
  • To assist the Regional Technical Support Service (RTSS) in the delivery and collection of bag consignments between the British Consulate-General and Hong Kong airport
  • To deliver or collect urgent and express material as the need arises and know how to prioritise car orders
  • To assist with border crossings for the delivery of bags into mainland China
  • To ensure that the allocated vehicle is kept clean and in a legally roadworthy condition at all times,
  • Reporting any defects and have the vehicles checked for regular service maintenance
