This is a brilliant opportunity to support high profile infrastructure trade between Brazil and the UK, with growing interface with other Latin American markets to support UK companies to grow their exports. You will focus your efforts on priority sectors, such as airports, ports, railways, urban mobility, water and sewage.

Roles and responsibilities

You will be responsible for supporting the management of an existing pipeline of well-identified commercial opportunities (accessible to UK companies) and researching and validating new opportunities as and when they arise. Your success in this position will primarily be measured on the value of exports you assist British companies to obtain and your ability to support your team to achieve this.

You will work closely with DIT sector teams based in London, who will source British companies to respond to the commercial opportunities that arise.

You will need strong communication and organisational skills and a high level of emotional intelligence that will allow you to pitch your approaches appropriately. This position will see you exposed to ministers to senior members of companies and therefore strong communication skills and a high level of resilience and persistence are essential.

You will be responsible for delivering a number of high profile events, both in Latin America and the UK that will be designed to showcase the best of British infrastructure to our customers. This will require careful delegation to both external contractors and your team and colleagues across Brazil and Latin America.

The position will suit an energetic, self-starter with a passion for the infrastructure sector. It will require someone who has a positive and proactive attitude that thinks in terms of opportunities, not problems, and will be able to motivate and inspire their team to deliver challenging targets.

You will:

  • Report to the DIT Head of Infrastructure in Sao Paulo, contribute to the Latin America’s Infrastructure High Value Campaigns and support UK infrastructure companies exporting to Brazil
  • Account manage a portfolio of key UK companies operating in Brazil by having regular meetings and calls in order to identify areas where the UK Government can further support their business to grow.
  • Prospecting new and emerging commercial opportunities in Brazil in both public and private sectors.
  • Work with UK infrastructure companies interested in Overseas Direct Investment (ODI) in Brazil.

Experience in working with business development / international trade and policy.

Language requirements:

Language: English and Portuguese

Level of language required: Fluent both orally and in writing

A can-do, pro-active attitude, organisational skills and enthusiasm for the sector are more important. Infrastructure’s market knowledge is a plus.
