The British Embassy in Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for an Intern to join the Communications, Campaigns and Public Diplomacy Team.

To assist in the day-to-day running of the British Embassy Copenhagen’s digital and social media content; to contribute creatively to the development of communications campaigns; and to assist in the running of virtual and (when possible) in-person events. Through communications and public diplomacy, the jobholder will help to promote a strong, productive and mutually beneficial UK-Denmark bilateral relationship; promote the UK, and its values and culture in Denmark; and help to ensure effective communication of key information to British nationals and businesses in Denmark.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development and running of virtual and in-person events, and event preparation and delivery.

  • Assisting in the development, creation and management of social media content.

  • Monitoring social media channels and producing reports.

  • Contributing to the development of social media channels strategy.

  • Helping to grow the British Embassy Copenhagen’s online presence and sphere of influence, particularly among key audiences and segments.

  • Developing digital content, editing and promoting output.

  • Monitoring similar organisations’ digital outputs.

  • Ad hoc communications and public diplomacy tasks.

  • We are looking to recruit a determined, self-sufficient, enterprising and results-oriented individual who is driven by an interest in public diplomacy, international relations, or public communications.

  • Fluent in English and Danish with exellent communications skills.

  • Adobe InDesign skills would be a plus.

  • Communications experience, perhaps in the international sphere.

We offer a 6 months internship contract with a monthly allowance of 2000 DKK for expenses only.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Copenhagen are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Danish employment law.

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Denmark and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
