Public Diplomacy
Main purpose of job:
The jobholder will be covering the Marketing and GREAT Campaign Officer who will be on maternity leave. He/she will be responsible for delivering the High Commission’s GREAT campaign work as well as providing marketing and event management support to High Commission colleagues
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Working with the wider Marketing and Communications Team to deliver marketing activities and materials in support of the British High Commission’s public diplomacy objectives.
- Deliver marketing support to the ongoing climate change and environment campaigns in the run up to the UK chairing the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in November 2021, as well as separate campaigns in support of StudyUK and Defence Diplomacy respectively. The scope of work includes events support, production of marketing materials, content development, video footage and social media.
- Provide secretariat support to the British High Commission’s Soft Power Committee.
- Responsible for producing GREAT campaign reporting and marketing feedback to the Hong Kong Marketing Hub and HQ.
- Support the Head of Marketing & GREAT Campaign with producing future GREAT Challenge Fund bids.
- Support the Head of Marketing & GREAT Campaign to source cash and value-in-kind sponsorship for GREAT campaign work and BHC activities.
Essential on arrival:
- Proven marketing and communication skills including in digital and social media
- Ability to handle project based work with considerable independence and self-management
- Good relationship management skills
- Good budget and administrative skills
- A strong team player, able to work flexibly across a wide range of stakeholders, organisations and cultures with sensitivity and effectiveness
- Excellent written, spoken, presentation and representational skills
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to participate in representational events after office hours and occasional travel
- Good design skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and good IT skills
- Have the legal right to live and work in Malaysia
- Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.

Working patterns:
Flexible working will be possible, in agreement with the line manager, and a high degree of working from home.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
