The Governor’s office of the United Kingdom in Gibraltar is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas.
The mission of the Office of the Governor is to support the Governor and Commander-in-Chief in carrying out his constitutional role and duties as Her Majesty’s Representative in Gibraltar. The Governor has special responsibilities for the conduct in Gibraltar of external affairs; defence; internal security and certain functions in relation to public offices. The Office of the Governor also supports dialogue between Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar and Her Majesty’s Government in the UK on a range of issues, to further develop the modern partnership between Britain and Gibraltar.
The PA Governor/Deputy Governor will provide secretarial and administrative assistance and support to the Governor and Deputy Governor to ensure efficient running of the Governor’s private office.
Main responsibilities:
To ensure the effective running of the private office of the Governor [working in close liaison with the Governor’s Aide de Camp (ADC)], including diary and programme management for the Governor who maintains a high profile in the local community;
To manage the Deputy Governor’s diary, setting up office calls and outside appointments;
To assist the ADC in compiling guest lists for a wide range of events including the Queen’s Birthday Party, inviting guests by telephone, administering online invitations, monitoring RSVP’s, updating contacts database lists, liaising with residence staff;
To deal with Governor’s and Deputy Governor’s official incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining accurate electronic and hard copy records;
To assist the Governor and Deputy Governor with official travel requirements;
To act as secretary to official meetings as required, taking notes and publishing minutes in a timely manner;
- Excellent level of English both written and spoken ( C1 Level);
- Previous PA/secretarial experience (given the high profile of the Governor);
- Knowledge of working with Microsoft applications;
- High level of confidentiality in keeping delicate information;
- Outstanding organisational skills and hands-on mentality;
- Autonomous and self-starting;
- Great team player, strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (including telephone etiquette).
- Spanish written and spoken, (C1 level).

This is a full-time and fixed term position until 1 February 2023.
The successful candidate will receive a monthly salary of £1,839.41 Gross (12 instalments).
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of six months.
Staff recruited locally by the Office of the Governor in Gibraltar is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.
