Main purpose of job:

To support the Anti-Corruption, Digitalisation & Competition Policy Team to deliver the British Government’s objectives on Anti-Corruption, Transparency, Open Government and Digitalisation in Mexico.

This is a varied and challenging position, which covers a wide range of policy and project related tasks as well as administrative tasks. It will involve contact with most sections of the Embassy and a range of external contacts in Mexico and the UK. We often work under time pressure in a fast-paced environment.

The jobholder will provide administrative support for the Political Team, as well as support on logistics, activities and events to ensure high quality outcomes working towards overall HMG objectives in Mexico.

 

Roles and responsibilities / what the jobholder will be expected to achieve:

 

As Intern in the political section some of the activities will involve:

  • Support ACROL and Future Cities Virtual Teams (VT)
  • Research on global strategies (Anti-Corruption, Transparency, Open Government, Business Integrity, Industry 4.0, Big Data/Open Data and Digital Economy Strategy).
  • Follow up of local strategies on these issues.
  • Legislative follow up (keep timely record of bill proposals and discussions).
  • Contribute to the mapping and prioritisation policy exercise on Digitalisation, Anti-Corruption & Rule of Law.
  • Team’s communication strategy.
  • Support in organising events & visits.
  • Meetings coordination for the team.
  • Events and meetings reporting.
  • Coordinate team’s stationery.
  • All employees in the Embassy network are expected, as part of their job to contribute towards the corporate activity organisation

  • Have a good understanding and interest in key national & international policy issues and diplomacy.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have an understanding of global issues relating to Anti-Corruption, Transparency, Open Government, Industry   4.0, Big Data/Open Data and/or Digital Economy Strategy.
  • Bachelor’s degree student (preference: in last semester or recently graduated).

  • Should be a proactive and creative self-starter with strong interpersonal skills who has the ability to learn quickly.
  •  Must be willing to work in constantly changing multicultural environments.
  • Experience in managing communication strategies
