Security Guards
The British Embassy in Tunis is looking to appoint three Security Guards grade S2 who are a dynamic team player to start as soon as possible.

Main purpose of job:
The successful candidates will play an important role within the security team, country-based guards’ forces are the first line of defence; our security guards play a key role in protecting staff and buildings. They are there to provide safety and security.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Believe in high levels of customer service and security awareness, flexible, resilient and able to work under pressure, day and night.
- Responsible of controlling, monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons. To guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Patrolling the Embassy and staff Residences.
- Checking for suspicious packages etc. and random external checks.
- Check communications, radios, mobile phones and landlines.
- Monitoring CCTV: Real time and reviewing events.
- Access control of pedestrian, Vehicle and emergency gates.
- Searching visitors and vehicles.
- Registering and scanning mail and parcels delivered to the embassy.
- Escorting visitors, contractors and deliveries.
- Checking guest lists and dealing with car parking during events organized at the Residence or Embassy.
- Answering telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information.
- Monitor and investigate fire and security alarms.
- Reporting of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Maintaining the daily record sheets: Duty Register, Vehicle Log, Arrival & Departure Log, Random Search Register, Key Register and Incident Register.
- Dealing with customers by giving them information or guidance.
- Responsible for the safety of visitors in case of emergencies.
- Locally engaged guards are responsible for supervising and providing guidance for temporary recruited contractor security guards at both the Embassy and the Residence.
- Registering the entrance and leaving of staff and visitors.
- Issuing and logging passes to visitors, securing and handling incoming and outgoing dip bags.
- Responsible for doing a weekly alarm test (fire, bomb and incident) with coordination of the Post security Manager and the duty Supervisor and register it in the log provided.
- Responsible for answering the fire alarms; reading addresses, deactivating and resetting the fire panel.
- Monitoring and reporting Security related Incidents with direct impact on mission.
- Other security related tasks as directed by the security management.
The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

- Good in English and Arabic both oral and written
- Physically fit to carry out duties and maintain this at all times
- Previous experience in uniformed services, commercial security or customer focussed industry background with checkable references
- Can work as an individual and within a team
- Knowledge of physical security barriers, policy and procedures
- Computer literate (especially in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Previous security or support industry experience
- Legal driving experience with valid driving license
- Knowledge or experience in First Aid

Working hours and remuneration:
The British Embassy in Tunisia offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. Initial salary will be TND 1,047 per month while on probation. Salary after probation is TND 1,281. This role is for a full-time employment, on a fixed term basis for one year (renewable).
Conditioned working hours are 42 hours gross per week. Standard working hours are from 07:00 – 19:00 and 19:00 – 07:00, including weekends and holidays. Hours subject to change by the security management due to security related incidences in country.
The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
The appointment will also be subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.
Eligibility:
Candidate must be eligible to work and reside in Tunisia immediately.
