The British High Commission in Nicosia is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Security Officer to work closely with the security team management to help foster a security culture to the wider mission and be a focal point to all staff should an emergency arise, maintain a customer facing role during working hours in a professional and flexible manner which is beyond reproach. Outside working hours be the initial interface between the mission and the authorities during incident and keep an over watch on all assets and residences.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- To ensure the safety of staff, visitors, buildings and equipment dependent on the British High Commission (BHC) in both north and south Nicosia;

Control the safe entry to the BHC and its dependencies by monitoring the CCTV Systems, operating the access points, external barriers, searching vehicles and screening all visitors;

Staff the Operations room; monitor the alarm and CCTV systems. Respond to, examine, report and record all occurrences. Answer telephone calls; filter all enquiries and forward details to the appropriate agency;

Patrol compounds; escort workers, visitors and cleaners in restricted areas.
- Proficient English and Turkish language skills* (C1 level CEFR Framework);
- Previous experience in customer facing roles and security;
- A full and clean driving Cyprus license;
- Experience working with MS Office tools.
- Former Police or Military;
- Advanced driving qualifications;
- Greek language skills would be an advantage.

The gross monthly salary for this position is € 1.308,41. This role involves working on shift pattern, subject to operational need and requirements.
The confirmation of appointment is subject to professional background checks and security clearance procedures, as well as the successful completion of a 6 month probation period.
The successful candidate must be free of any convictions, and undergo a UK security clearance process.

Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission in Nicosia are subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Republic of Cyprus employment law.

Visa/work permit requirements: candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Cyprus and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
