The British Embassy Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. Scottish Development International (SDI) is Scotland’s trade and foreign direct investment agency .SDI works in collaboration with the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) as well as leading on the Scottish Government’s international trade strategy. Currently , we’re looking for a Senior Specialist in Life Sciences to join the Nordic team based at the British Embassy Copenhagen.

Our new colleague will work with Scottish exporters in the life sciences and healthcare sectors with a special focus on the Digital Health, MedTech, BioTech and pharma. The individual will be responsible for developing strategic relationships that increase Scottish trade and provide market insights into the Nordic economies.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To provide expert support and advice to Scottish companies wishing to enter the Nordic markets within life sciences, healthcare, MedTech, BioTech and pharma.
  • To deliver against Scottish Government life science export targets and advance Scotland as a centre for life science and digital health innovation.
  • To build strategic relationships with organisations, private / public, that increase Scottish trade by identifying export opportunities and future economic partnerships.
  • To lead on the development of partnerships and networks with Nordic stakeholders such as chambers, incubators, clusters, academia and industry bodies.
  • To collaborate with colleagues from across the UK Government as well as Nordic governmental departments and regions.
  • To facilitate key events and activities which support Scottish trade work in the Nordics including webinars, roadshows, trade missions, Ministerial visits, virtual or otherwise.

 

 

 

  • Fluency in written and spoken English (C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and in a Scandinavian language such as Danish, Swedish or Norwegian (B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)*;
  • A strong knowledge of the life science / healthcare sectors in the Nordics;
  • A fast learner who can demonstrate initiative, resilience, and adaptability;
  • An experienced networker with existing relationships in the Nordics;
  • A team player with a consultative approach who can collaborate within a geography and ‘virtual team’ to achieve common objectives.

  • A Masters level education preferably within life sciences;
  • An understanding of government and the role it plays international trade;
  • Experience of working in an international trade promotion environment.

This is a full-time permanent contract of 35 hours net per week.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorisation for Denmark in order to apply.
