Main purpose of job:

These are exciting times for the British High Commission in Singapore. In 2022, the UK will host the Commonwealth Games, celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen, organise the UK Festival of Creativity and commemorate 150 years of the FA Cup.

To drive our social media engagement around these and several other exciting projects, the High Commission is looking for a Digital Content Producer to manage our social media channels and produce compelling content to engage our audiences.

We are looking for a creative and dynamic individual who will be a critical ingredient for storytelling, producing and publishing content on varied themes from Education, Sustainability and Science & Innovation to Youth, Sports & Culture.

You’ll be part of a small, but mighty, Communications Team that works collaboratively with teams across the High Commission in Singapore and counterparts in London. You will not only have a front row seat to important global events but also gain invaluable experience of working inside a diplomatic mission and witness first-hand the real world impact of our work.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • You will shoot, edit and produce original audio-visual content that is in the zeitgeist for modern Singaporean audiences.
  • Manage the editorial calendar for UKinSingapore social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn) and contribute to developing a coherent voice and editorial vision.
  • Develop plans to grow followers.
  • Track and analyse performance of content.
  • Generate and research new ideas for engaging our audience.
  • Proactively develop and manage innovative and impact-driven digital partnerships, including opportunities for collaborations with external partners and influencers.
  • Ensure brand consistency in close collaboration with colleagues in London.
  • Responsible for internal digital communications and reporting on channel performance and relevant news/trends. 
  • Work closely with colleagues from other government departments to ensure cross government alignment on local communications strategies through early engagement and forward planning.

  • Strong storyteller with an eye for great content and bags of creativity.
  • At least 2 – 3 years of experience producing video content with proven skills in shooting and editing in Final Cut Pro (or equivalent).
  • Deep familiarity with camera, lenses, light and sound equipment.
  • Keen interest in the latest social trends and a good understanding of how social media can be used to increase reach and engagement.
  • Awareness of best practice to optimise performance.
  • Organised and able to handle multiple projects on tight deadlines.
  • Has a pulse of what kind of content works in vertical/social formats in Singapore.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Highly creative with a sense of humour.
  • Experience in producing content for a government, non-profit or news organisation will be an advantage.
  • A Portfolio of previous work.

We offer a competitive package, which includes basic salary of SGD 3,744 per month and annual wage supplement [an additional 2 months’ salary paid out in December each year], 23-day annual leave entitlement in pro rata and insurance plan.

BHC will consider applications from candidates in countries from which travel to Singapore is feasible under prevailing Covid related borders restrictions. Singapore will allow entry for fully vaccinated with vaccine approved under WHO EUL. Applicants should be aware that Singapore has mandated that from 1 January 2022 only employees who are fully vaccinated, or have recovered from COVID-19 within 270 days, can return to the workplace.  Singapore will require unvaccinated employees to have a negative Pre-Event Testing (PET) result at their own expense before coming to the office.

All new hires undertake a workplace induction and there are a number of mandatory e-learning courses that must be completed in order to pass probation.

Normal working hours are 37.5 per week: 8.30am to 5.00pm from Monday to Friday.

In addition to the duties which this job normally entails, you may from time to time be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the High Commission, including playing a part in the corporate life of the mission and supporting any crisis response.
