Main purpose of job:
The Social Media Specialist will support the development and growth of the British Embassy in Colombia’s digital presence, acting as editor and coordinator of multiplatform content of all the social media channels.
The successful candidate will have the coordination, creativity and experience to propose new digital campaigns and effective and efficient ways to dynamise the embassy’s digital presence. As well as to evaluate the results of each campaign and to propose innovative strategies to improve our social media exposure.
Based on the general communications guidelines, the Social Media Specialist will report to the Communications and Events coordinator and will work very closely with the Digital Communications Assistant.
Roles and responsibilities/what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
Coordination of social media channels (40%)
•Coordinate the weekly content planning for digital platforms and offer ideas to improve work and standardize corporate image supported by the digital assistant.
•Create innovative campaigns for the different social media channels.
•Act as a point of contact with the Digital Hub in Washington and report/support their initiatives in the digital landscape.
Platform management and engagement (40%)
•Measure performance and perception of the digital platforms, using the tools created for that matter and report results periodically. Analyse available insights, opportunities or threats in the digital platforms and report findings and suggestions to the line managers to define strategies of distribution and reach.
•Manage the database with potential influencers or stakeholders of the relevant digital landscape and propose online and offline activities to increase engagement with them.
•Update the gov.uk official webpage, when it is required.
•Actively collaborate with the press and public affairs team in all initiatives regarding the communications and digital strategy.
Administrative and occasional supervision (20%)
•Carry out administrative tasks of the job such as legalization of purchases on trips or related.
•Advice press team and Communications Champions on the use of digital tools and content structure.
•Assign operative tasks to communications interns and digital assistant and supervise them.
Essential on arrival:
•Passionate about the quickly evolving digital environment.
•Experience of at least one (1) year after graduation in digital communications in agencies or high-level organizations, particularly in marketing content or storytelling, influencer engagement and metrics assessment in Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
•Experience collaborating closely with key decision makers.
•Advanced knowledge of social media tools such as Hootsuite and Facebook Business Manager.
•Excellent English and Spanish writing skills.
•Undergraduate in communications, advertising, journalism and/or similar subjects.
Must have the legal status to live and work in Colombia
Language requirements:
Language: English and Spanish
Level of language required: at least B2 level certified in English and native Spanish.
Desirable:
•Experience working in an international environment.
•Experience with social media ads.
•Advanced knowledge of other multimedia editing programs.
•Advanced video and photography skills.
