The British Consulate General in Istanbul is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to hire one full-time, permanent Stakeholder Liaison Officer for its UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) section.

UKVI is the overseas arm of the UK’s immigration control. Istanbul is one of the busiest Visa Sections in the world and processes applications made in Turkey, Central Asia, South Caucasus, Tel Aviv and Northern Cyprus. We are committed to providing a first class service, and are expected to be flexible, and to make fair and defensible decisions on visa applications quickly, balancing the need for a high level of customer service with the requirement to maintain the integrity of the immigration control.

Main Purpose of the job

To run stakeholder schemes in accordance with service level agreements and act as a liaison point between stakeholders and UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI)

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish/maintain relationships with stakeholders, key partners, including, but not limited to government officials
  • Ensure stakeholder schemes are run according to service level agreements
  • Act as a liaison point between the Ambassador/Consul General and UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI)
  • Deal with VIP customer applications and staff applications
  • Organise and take part in internal and external stakeholder meetings
  • Attend stakeholder events/functions/workshops on behalf of UKVI
  • Deal with enquiries from other sections of the Embassy, Consulate General and Honorary Consulates
  • Prepare informative presentations for stakeholders
  • Maintain contact and agreement records
  • Carry out Line Management duties as required
  • Support other managers as required

  • A strong communicator with proficient English (C1 level CEFR Framework*) and proficient Turkish language skills
  • Have a strong understanding of customer service and have experience in dealing with VIP customers and Senior Government Officials
  • Flexible and positive about working in a forward thinking, modern and motivated department, which is working at the forefront of visa work 
  • Able to remain customer focused, polite and courteous under pressure
  • Able to manage own work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work under pressure as part of a large team and complete tasks to an agreed standard
  • Experienced in giving presentations and holding meetings with senior officials
  • Experienced in corresponding with Government Officials
  • An excellent team player; this is an all for one, and one for all environment
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel

 

  • A graduate or an equivalent degree
  • Experience in customer service or public relations
  • Experience in working in a government organisation or international organisations

This is a full-time permanent contract, for 5 working days (36.25 hours net) per week.

The monthly salary for this position is 1,447.61 USD gross A2 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.
