Position Description
The History Department of the College of Charleston invites applications for a visiting assistant professorship in History to begin the Fall semester of 2021. Historians in all subfields are welcome to apply, with preference for a specialist in U.S. Civil War/Reconstruction. The position is for one year, and the successful candidate will teach four sections of the 100-level general education requirement each semester, i.e., pre-modern history (pre-1500) and/or modern history (post-1500). The general education classes are organized thematically, around the professor’s academic interests, where appropriate. There may be opportunities to teach upper-division courses. All requirements for the Ph.D. in History must be completed by August 15, 2021.
