Volunteer – TROSA- Bangladesh – Dhaka

 

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

Transboundary Rivers of South Asia (TROSA) is a five-year regional programme of Oxfam being implemented since 2017 with the vision of reducing poverty and marginalization of vulnerable river basin communities through increased access to, and control over, river related natural resources and reducing vulnerability to river induced disasters. In Bangladesh, the programme works in the Brahmaputra, Jinjiram, Meghna and Teesta river basins with partner organizations CNRS and GUK.

The Role

We are looking for an early career professional or student who is agile and have capacity to work with grassroots partners to mobilize research, capacity building and awareness raising at local level on inclusive water governance.
The Volunteer will work under the TROSA programme from CJNRR portfolio to ensure and achieve the following outcomes of TROSA:
• Government policies and practices at all levels in water resource management are more inclusive of community concerns and meet national and international standards
• Practices of private sector respect community access to water resources actively contributing to reduced conflict
• CSOs increasingly participate in or influence trans-boundary water governance, women’s inclusion and resolution of water conflicts
• River basin communities’ increasingly influence trans-boundary water governance policies and processes
• Increased influence of women in trans-boundary water governance, policy and processes

What we are looking for

Our next Volunteer will require:
• A bachelor’s degree in any social, environmental or biological science. Those who have appeared in the finals but result pending, can also apply.

Desirable:
• Knowledge of Contemporary Environmental Justice Issues
• Experience of Voluntary Work, activism and advocacy at the grassroots level
• Excellent Writing Skills in Bangla And English
• Ability to Work Remotely/In Office For 3-6 Months.
• Value alignment for environmental justice, rights-based approach and feminist principles
• Skills in either visual documentation, storytelling, quantitative and qualitative data processing and analysis
