The Psychology Department of the Faculty of Science at University of Tübingen and the independent Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) are seeking to appoint a
W2 Temporary Research Professor (6 years)
for Digitalisation and Education
beginning 1 January 2022.
The Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) is seeking to appoint an outstanding early-career scholar to a six-year research professorship (§ 50 (2)(5) of the Baden-Württemberg state law covering higher education and specifically the promotion of highly gifted junior researchers) to establish a junior research group in the field of digitalisation and education. The professorship includes the opportunity to engage in teaching. Po-tential areas of key interest could feasibly include fields such as media-supported teaching, teacher training, informatics education, assessment, self-regulation, learning strategies or digital intervention.
As a member of the Leibniz Association (Leibniz Gemeinschaft), IWM is committed to international standards of excellent science and offers outstanding working and research conditions. The IWM cooperates closely with international, national and local research partners and is excellently networked with scientists working in disciplines such as psychology, education research and computer science.
The successful applicant will have an internationally visible research profile, a background in areas such as empirical education/media/cognition research and have a record of initial successes in the acquisition of external funding. Moreover, the successful applicant will be willing to engage in cooperative, interdisciplinary research with other IWM working groups and to participate in the Institute’s management and ongoing development.
Enlargement of the IWM’s range of methodologies (e.g. in the fields of machine learning, automatic speech processing, panel or longitudinal studies, randomised intervention studies in the field) is desired. The appointment will be made at the Faculty of Science of Tübingen University. Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent international degree and postdoctoral qualifications equivalent to the require-ments for tenure. This includes evidence of teaching effectiveness.
