On Our Radar is looking for an experienced web/software developer with excellent front-end skills to work part-time on our innovative social impact digital messaging and data platform. This individual should be creative and self-managing, ideally with prior experience of developing cloud-based software for the social impact sector; with working on digital messaging applications; and/or with integrating data collection, integration, analysis and/or visualisation tools.

Our current platform is being redesigned and improved to simplify and enhance the experience of managing ‘community reporting’ (or citizen journalism) and storytelling with marginalised communities in both the UK and abroad, helping them to surface and amplify their voices for increased impact and insights.

Initially, you will focus on primarily front-end development so will need a solid background in HTML, CSS and React. Later you may broaden out to other work, including our backend systems which consist of a mix of Elixir, Clojure, Python and Go. You will be implementing and iterating existing designs in React, driven by an Elixir based backend.

Ideally, we are seeking a proactive and strong developer who is also able to put their hands to related areas of ad hoc visual design, interactivity design, UX workshops etc.

You should be available from August/September, for part-time (sprint-based) work until early to mid-2022.

The salary is £250-400/day dependent on experience (freelance/PAYE depending on IR35 status).

While we will consider remote candidates – our preference is for someone based within easy travel time from London or Brighton (UK), to allow for occasional in-person meetings.
