The Role

At Last Mile Health (LMH), we are all stewards of our reputation and our resources. Do you have experience creating compelling content for social impact that elevates an organization’s brand? If so, you may be our next Writer.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Writer will be responsible for crafting compelling written content that drives the organization’s mission, elevates our brand to key audiences, and supports our fundraising goals. Key deliverables for this role include the Impact Narrative (our annual report), four Quarterly Reports per year, one pagers/organizational profiles, key messaging, website copy, and blog posts. The Writer will also be responsible for reviewing and editing written copy to be published on behalf of the organization, and for managing LMH’s social media profiles.

This position is open to candidates located in Liberia or on the Eastern seaboard of the United States. Candidates must have work authorization in one of the countries listed above.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the lead writer and project manager for the organization’s core communications collateral, including the Impact Narrative, Quarterly Reports, and one pagers/organizational overviews
  • Contribute to key messaging for the organization
  • Write and edit website copy
  • Manage LMH’s blog calendar, writing and editing original content for the blog on a monthly basis
  • Write, edit, and/or contribute to thought leadership and opinion pieces published by leadership

  • Create an editorial style guide for staff & update quarterly

  • Review and edit written materials to be published on behalf of the organization from country and global teams

  • Draft and publish compelling social media content across LMH’s platforms, in partnership with the Communications team

  • Manage LMH’s social media platforms and track analytics

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Several years of professional experience in a communications or journalism role, ideally in the social sector
  • Proven ability to create creative, clear, and powerful written communications for the social sector that are jargon-free
  • Strong storytelling abilities and ability to frame narratives to a wide range of audiences
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience managing social media platforms
  • Experience writing with a DEI/anti-colonial lens
  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful – consistently overcomes challenges and leverages resources to creatively solve problems.
  • Track record of managing a high volume of work with efficiency
  • Strong attention to detail

You’ll Impress Us If

  • You have a experience accompanying programs team staff to develop and write content
  • You have a working knowledge of website content management systems

OVERVIEW OF LAST MILE HEALTH’S COMPENSATION MODEL

Compensation for this position:

The Band for this position: Band 3

In Liberia, the salary range for this position is: $20,000 – $30,000, dependent upon experience doing an equivalent role.

In the United States, the salary range for this position is: $63,000 – $75,000, dependent upon experience doing an equivalent role.
