Waiter/Household Assistant
The British High Commission (BHC) is recruiting for the role of Cleaner/Housekeeper. This Full Time position (40hours per week) is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Working within the British High Commission Team, and reporting to the Residence & Events Manager, the key duties are:
- General cleaning and housekeeping duties to ensure a high level of hygiene is observed at the British High Commission estate
- Flexibility to work within different locations within the British High Commission estate
- Serving during official functions (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and receptions)
- Collaborate with the High Commission staff to ensure an efficient and effective service at the Residence, and the highest standards of customer service
- Liaise with the Residence & Events Manager to ensure the high standard of Health and Safety within the estate is upheld
- Manage the cleaning supplies in coordination with Corporate Services Team.
- A good command of the English language (*at least B2 level);
- Self-sufficient and ability to work in a team;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Ability to build effective working relationships;
- Attention to detail;
- The successful candidate will need to demonstrate satisfactory references, and any appointment is subject to a security clearance process.
- IT skills including Microsoft Office and internet skills;
- Previous serving experience within the hospitality industry;
- Driving License (Category B) is a plus for commuting;
- Food Handling Licence.

This is a full-time of 40 hours/week, 12 months renewable contract.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.

Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission in Malta are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Maltese employment law.
Visa/Passport requirements: candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Malta and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance.
