A day in the life of an Apprentice Program Specialist

Job Duties

  • Assists in the development and execution of the Samaritan’s Purse Apprentice Program.
  • Drives training and curriculum strategy, as well as design and implementation, in coordination with the Learning and Development Department.
  • Ensures continuous improvement of training curriculum.
  • Captures and maintains data and relevant metrics to evaluate overall program efficiency.
  • Provides analysis to relevant stakeholders.
  • Builds and executes recruitment efforts to ensure high-caliber pool of candidates for Apprentice Program.
  • Manages the screening, interviewing, and hiring process for apprentice positions. Ensures efficient hiring mechanisms are in place that result in high quality, ministry-aligned hires.
  • Helps lead position formulation and creation efforts with hiring managers.
  • Evaluates position requests for Apprentice Program against short and long-term data trends, and other relevant factors.
  • Contributes to performance management and feedback efforts.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to ensure apprentice positions are strategic and substantive.
  • Provides professional support and mentoring to Apprentices, where needed, to ensure continued professional and spiritual growth.
  • Assists with the job requisition process through the HRIS.
  • Follows policies and procedures of Samaritan’s Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
  • Maintains a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
  • Attends daily morning devotions and participates in prayer support for the ministry, donors and volunteers.
  • Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified within the content of the job description.

In the role of Apprentice Program Specialist, you will assist in the development and execution of the Samaritan’s Purse Apprentice Program. This position will help lead efforts to ensure overall program success. This includes the position formulation and creation process; targeted recruitment and hiring; training and curriculum strategy, design, and implementation; data tracking, management and reporting; performance management; relationships with departments and hiring managers; overall Program design and improvement; and ongoing relationships with and support of existing Apprentices. Domestic travel will be required and occasional International travel.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A personal, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and desire to continue being an active, consistent witness for Him.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Human Resources, Program Management, Learning and Development, Business, or related field of study.
  • 3+ years of professional experience (required).
  • Knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) (preferred).
  • Prior International experience (required).
  • Demonstrated success in cross-cultural communication and ministry (preferred).
  • General knowledge of candidate recruitment and hiring process.
  • General knowledge of professional development strategies.
  • General knowledge of demographic trends and ability to translate those into training strategy.
  • Ability to drive results, balancing strategic thinking with tactical application.
  • Ability to manage complex and competing priorities within fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships at all levels of the organization with focus on internal and external customer service.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for program improvement and development.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to calibrate approach to fit the audience.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (required).

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required)

Travel Expectations: Ability to travel. This position requires domestic travel (up to 25% per year) and occasional International travel. Maintaining required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary.
